General The Regional Manager, Africa is a member of the Networks & Communities team, working

S/he is an enthusiastic ambassador for the Council’s Humanising Energy vision and working
to involve more people and communities in mobilising clean and just energy transitions
worldwide. S/he supports the delivery of this agenda in the Africa region, fosters productive
engagement of members in activities and works with the Africa Regional Vice Chair(s) to
build and activate relationships in member countries and beyond. The Regional Manager
works closely with our diverse community in the region and supports relationship building
with governments, companies, academia, and other international organisations that can
help deliver the Council mission and deliver impact at scale.

We are seeking an Africa guru with proven experience of building relationships with a wide
range of energy stakeholders and who is passionate about the Council’s mission and wants
to join us to move faster and further together to humanise the energy transition.
Objective of role • Be the Council community manager for the Africa region, providing a thorough
understanding of stakeholder needs and challenges, and actioning regional priorities.
• Closely engage with the region’s member committees and create working relationships
with their management teams to enable a pro-active relationship management of the
Council’s community in Africa.
• Strengthen and extend our network, growing the organisation’s capacity to develop and
support members in the region, facilitating their involvement and the creation of
impact.
• Enhance the Council’s regional visibility and help members leverage and translate the
Council’s activities into tangible value and impactful agendas for their country in support
of the Council’s mission and Humanising Energy vision.
• Ensure regular dialogue with regional stakeholders and plan, coordinate, and implement
successful regional events convening high-level stakeholders to discuss key issues
Outputs & • Create high-value opportunities for engagement, commercial opportunities and income
Deliverables: generation in Africa for the Council and to support member committees in becoming
financially sustainable and in delivering the Council’s Humanising Energy agenda in the
local context. Provide advice on fundraising and member recruitment, business plans,
liaison with partners or institutions, restructuring, and working with them on tailoring
the Council’s value proposition.
• Work collaboratively with the Africa Regional Vice Chair(s) to deliver high-quality
regional activities and impact initiatives for members and to extend the Council’s
footprint in Africa, enhance representation of African voices in global insights,
initiatives, and ensure greater African presence in international dialogues, including the
World Energy Congress.
• Establish regular and effective communication between members and the Secretariat,
share best practice and learnings to ensure visibility of regional members activities and
impact.
• Present and promote the Council’s content, build relations with, and drive strong
engagement of local CEOs, Ministers, regional institutions and development banks,
and experts in the Council’s regional and global programmes.

• Produce briefings, horizon scanning, and reports on member committee activities.


• Keep the Secretariat up to date on key changes in government in the region and in
member committees.

able to work autonomously. An experienced relationship manager, capable of
understanding people/cultures and managing delicate situations.
Background & • Hands on individual willing to achieve a positive impact and enhanced presence of the
Profile: Council, building on her/his experience in and knowledge of the Africa region.
• Credible ambassador with all level of stakeholders from CEO and Minister to
administrator and the ability to demonstrate a strong network and coverage of the
region.
• Demonstrable experience in an international community management role, with the
ability to engage and extend a network of high-level stakeholders from the region with
diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Demonstrate the experience to successfully deliver new business relationships, reach
new markets and enhance delivery of services.
• Strong analytical skills and applied knowledge of energy challenges in Africa and ability
to communicate with stakeholders. Energy experience is highly regarded.
• Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline from an internationally recognised
institution.
• Fluency of other languages highly regarded.
• IT literacy; previous experience using CRM.
• International and travel in the region will be required.
