Project Field Assistant Job Description

Position: Field Assistant

Duty Station: Masvingo

Reporting to: District Team Leader

Location: The Project Field Assistant will be based in Gutu

Job summary

The key aspects of the job are field based community organization, planning,
implementation and monitoring and evaluation of activities related to Climate Adaptation
for Rural Livelihoods Project in line with the Annual Work Plan; training famers in
improved climate change adaptation initiatives including catchment management. The
job will also aim to link private sector players and producer groups. The incumbent will
be stationed within the ward clusters in the district reporting to the District Team Leader.

Key duties and responsibilities

 Facilitate community empowerment and capacity building through linkages and


collaboration with partners operating at ward level.
 Promote formation and training of farmer groups in climate smart agricultural
practices.
 Provide technical support on CCA investments, inclusive financial services and value
chains.
 Support formation and or strengthening of village savings groups and linking them to
micro-finance institutions and other players to support livelihoods improvements.
 Facilitate the identification and implementation of selected value chains that support
climate change adaptation. .
 Monitoring and evaluating work activities at field level sites ensuring adherence to
work norms.
 Organize exchange visits for the communities and other program staff in the area
 Compile and submit monthly & quarterly reports.
 Managing relationships with stakeholders including government line ministries,
RDCs, NGOs and private sector.

Knowledge

• A diploma/degree in Agriculture/Development Studies/Project Management/Natural


Resources Management or an equivalent qualification
• Class 3/4 Driver’s license
• Ability and willingness to ride a motorcycle is a must
• At least 3 years relevant experience in the development field.
• Ability to work with teams, communicate and coordinate with government departments
and other agencies at various levels.
• Knowledge of development issues, trends, challenges and opportunities and
implications to community development
