RAISING THE FUTURE

Introduction
I believe that our children are our greatest legacy and
contribution to our society — the reason why we chose to homeschool
our kids. Our vision is not just to raise successful career leaders, but
men and women who love God above all else, and will seek to honor
Him in everything regardless of the career path they will choose one
day.

When Dorcas and I had our first daughter, Naomi Faith, we

decided to be very intentional and hands-on in raising her up until the
time comes when we need to release her. That is the reason why we
created tools and materials that will help us realize our vision. The result
was the creation of My ABC Bible Verses and My Interactive Bible
Stories (and many others), which later became a homeschool program
for Pre-K, eventually birthing to this product.

If you are a parent and you are using this product, thank you.

Thank you for choosing to be intentional in raising the future.

Together, we will change the world and shape our nation one
child at a time.

May the Lord bless you and your family.

BIBLE-BASED AND PLAY-BASED

HOMESCHOOLING PROGRAM
This Pre-K homeschool program is a 40-week program that is
Bible-based and Play-based. It is designed to run for two (2) terms to
address the progressing skills of a toddler.

The 1st term lessons focus on building the pre-literacy, pre-

numeracy and pre-writing skills of the child, in consideration of the
child's readiness for reading, counting and writing in the 2nd term.

1st Term 2nd Term

A checklist of skills is provided so the parents can track the

progress of the child three times - before (Pre-Assessment), in the
middle (Mid-Assessment) and after a term (Final Assessment).

You can use the skills listed on the checklist as a guide to create
some activities. It can serve as your compass so you will not lose track
of what you should do next.
How to use this book?

Each weekly lesson is mainly based on a Bible Story taken from

International Children’s Bible version, with integration of academic
lessons. It covers the Literacy, Numeracy and Writing Areas and also
extends to other important areas of learning like Science, Arts and
Crafts, Music and Movement and Christian Education/Values.

While the weekly topics are already provided, parents are highly
encouraged to explore creativity and embrace intentionality through
other DIY activities and lessons. The homeschool weekly planner and
daily time blocking may be printed out to help in plotting the daily
lessons for the parent/guardian's guidance and convenience.

To effectively carry out the program, it is recommended to

identify the child's learning style which is also discussed in the next
pages. But more importantly, please remember that the purpose of this
whole program is for the child to have a fun learning experience,
stronger parent-child relationship, and a meaningful journey of
knowing Jesus and loving Him with all his heart.

Are you ready?

Get set and start!
The 7 LEArning Styles

As you watch children grow and learn, it quickly becomes obvious that each
child has his own way of learning and interacting with the world around him. One
child may spend his hours curled up with a book, while another uses any excuse to go
outside. One may beg to go to the museum, while another cannot stop himself from
pulling objects apart to discover how they work together.

These learning styles may help you identify your child’s style in acquiring
information and knowledge, and may serve as guide as you DIY his activities. It can
help you identify his interests and prepare a learning environment that is suitable for
him.

VISUAL (Spatial) STYLE

sfasf Visual learners learn best when they have an image as
cue to help them absorb information. They often need to map
out everything or write out their thoughts in order to really
process what they are thinking.
• They have good spatial sense and sense of direction.
• They can easily visualize objects, plans, and
concepts.
• They like drawing, coloring, and doodling.
• They have good color balance.
• They are good at using maps and rarely get lost.

AURAL (Auditory) STYLE

Aural learners respond primarily to sounds. They prefer
learning through rhythms or tend to use clever rhymes to
remember something.
• They find that certain music invokes strong
emotions.
• They enjoy  listening to music in the background
while learning.
• They have a good sense of pitch or rhythm.
• They often hear songs, jingles, and themes tend to
pop in their head without prompts.

VERBAL (Linguistic) STYLE

Verbal learners learn best both in verbal instruction and
in writing. They are those who go into public speaking, writing,
journalism, or debating.
• They express themselves both in speaking and
writing.
• They enjoy reading and writing.
• They love rhyming words and tongue twisters.
• They have wide knowledge in vocabulary and enjoys
learning of new words.
The 7 LEArning Styles
based from Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligence
by Howard Gardner (1983)

PHYSICAL (Kinesthetic) STYLE

sfasf Physical learners like getting their hands dirty. They are
motivated to learn by moving, and by through the motions of
what they are exploring.
• They appreciate the world around them.
• They enjoy outdoor activities and working with their
hands.
• They tend to use and understand body language.
• They enjoy making models.
• They love doing jigsaw puzzles.

LOGICAL (Mathematical) STYLE

Logical learners are the individuals who want to
understand the reason behind content or skills and tend to
enjoy games like chess and doing brainteasers.
• They enjoy classifying things together in order to
understand a concept.
• They love performing complex calculations.
• They create procedures for future use, after coming
up with a solution to a problem.
• They plan agendas and itineraries and even rank and
number them.

SOCIAL (Interpersonal) STYLE

Social learners are natural group workers. They seem to
be interested in extracurricular activities, team works, and ask
for a feedback in order to learn from the experience.
• They prefer to socialize after every class.
• They enjoy playing games in group.
• They love to share ideas to others to start working
out with the group.
• They listen well.
• They tend to be trustworthy as described by others.
The 7 LEArning Styles
based from Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligence
by Howard Gardner (1983)

SOLITARY (Intrapersonal) STYLE

sfasf Solitary learners prefer to learn on their own and keep to
themselves. They are often seen as extroverts in social
situations but prefer to be alone when they are trying to learn
something.
• They think independently.
• They prefer to relax by traveling away from the
crowds or group of people.
• They spend time on self-analysis.
• They journal, write, and record personal thoughts
and events as a way to improve.

DISCLAIMER: There is no wrong way to learn. While you may use your own judgment
for your child, please make it based on an informed decision. Help him to play and
learn according to his strengths and potentials. By being more aware of how the child
learns better, you are set to help the child develop more interest, become motivated
and gear up to have a sustained love for learning.

Tips to Boost tODdLER’s speEch

Speech and language are an essential parts of any child’s development.

Development in these areas impact his social interactions, behavior and academic
skills. As parents, we play a critical role in their language development. Many studies
have shown that children who are read to and spoken with a great deal during this
stage will have larger vocabularies and better grammar than those who aren’t.

Listed below are some tips to boost your kid’s speech.

BE POSITIVE - This is the first thing you have to keep in mind when speaking
to them. Talking and speaking are not just about giving order, telling them to
do something, or make them tell you something. Make speaking fun and
positive.

AVOID BABY TALKS - Normal speech is easier for them to understand

adults, so we just need to speak clearly. They understand a lot more than we
think from a very early stage.

DESCRIBE EVERYTHING - Talk, talk, talk. Narrate the day as it evolves. Tell
your child, for instance, "Now we're going to take a bath. Can you feel the
warm water on your belly? When we dry off, we'll get dressed and take a
walk.” Explain everything to him and describe life as a toddler may see it.

TELL STORIES - Make up some stories with characters, conflict, adventure,

and a happy ending, but keep it simple. Be sure that the stories fit your
child's interests and aren't too scary for his liking.

ASK QUESTIONS - Asking questions helps him understand that a response

is required. Just make sure to use the proper intonation so he may also use it
properly.

GESTURES - Use gestures along with words. Non-verbal communication

provides your child a way to express himself before he is able to do so
verbally. When he uses a gesture, his listeners respond verbally, providing
words he can learn from.

STOP AND LISTEN - Give him a chance to respond and reply. Follow your
child’s lead, so you are doing activities that hold his interest as you talk.
Never criticize his articulation or speech patterns. Instead, repeat his
statements back to him with the correct pronunciation or word usage. Give
your child lots of praise for his efforts. Give him time.

Just like other skills that your child will master, proper guidance, constant
practice and right stimulation may help, but keep in mind that kids develop at their
own pace.
