Student: Anthony Froilán Romero Valladares Deadline: 19/3/2021 Topic: "Yakupura" Home Water Filter Initiative 1.- Background was awarded as Entrepreneurship of the year, in the sixth edition of the Ei Awards, of the Alliance for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (AEI), held on February 25. Founded by Carolina Placencia, Jocelyn Valencia and Danilo Mendoza, the start-up was possible thanks to a seed capital they received from the Ideas Bank, an incubation initiative of the National Secretariat for Higher Education, Science and Technology (Senescyt). They obtained this aid thanks to the fact that their venture met the three requirements of the program: be green, substitute imports and be related to technology. 2. Business Management Yakupura They offer a viable solution to a problem that affects water distribution networks in cities. To obtain water suitable for human consumption, it is necessary to chlorinate it, thus eliminating bacteria and pathogens. In the long term this is detrimental to health. Hence the need to find an alternative to drink water free of chlorine and other impurities that are not removed in other purification processes such as boiling. Drinking bottled water has the disadvantage of generating waste, The operation of the filter is attached to the kitchen taps. Its rubber nozzle allows it to be hermetic and its design is compatible with most faucets on the market, the filter purifies the water using activated carbon, which is made up of the shell of the coconut. At a price of USD 10 per filter, the product avoids buying 500 half-liter bottles of water. The company's strategy is based on launching a subscription model. This will allow the customer to pay a monthly fee and receive the filters. Green points will also be established to receive the filters, once their useful life has ended and in return discount coupons will be delivered for the next purchase and it will be launched in programs such as TVentas and digitally on the web and social pages. 3.- My development as a manager of that company As the manager of the Yakupura venture, as the main function, I would focus on the publicity of the product to be able to make it known more easily. I would choose in these times of the pandemic to be able to give work to young people who are those who are most active in social networks and through commissions can belong to the company which will be dedicated to publishing the product through their social networks which will be able to become a friend and family members and thus increasing the reach of the product in the market. As a second I would focus on the best of the product and also be able to introduce it in other markets such as creating a product with the same base but increasing it to a more industrial level which we would promote in restaurants since these types of inductrial filters accumulate a lot in them for water purification.
