I cannot agree
more with what you have mentioned that it is difficult to assess elder abuse with the fact that signs
and symptoms of illness of people who are aging are very similar to signs and symptoms of abuse.

You mentioned about mitigation of stress associated with caregiving and it reminds me of the
countless stories shared by friends and family regarding the challenge of taking care of elders. Their
attitude is unexplainable and they are sometimes too sensitive, emotional, demanding and so much
more. Dealing with them needs a ton of patience and I believe that’s where the therapy for caregivers
is much necessary. Caretakers play a very vital role in elder’s lives and their well-being must be
taken care of so that they can play their duties effectively and efficiently.

How do we identify then that the elders are maltreated when the persons guilty of doing so are the
people who are assigned to look after them especially in care homes?
