Student visa application process for the UK

Step 1: Choosing Subject


This step is very crucial If student want to establish in the UK and want a career related to his study. It would be
good if the chosen subject is related to pervious academic background as it will make your student life easier in
the UK.
- Previous academic background
- Future job prospective of the subject. Check Shortage Occupation List.

Step 2: Choosing university:

Make a list of universities who offer chosen subject. Before looking anything, student need to check whether he
meets university entry requirements (academic and English proficiency). In order to compare university student
can follow proforma below:

Step 3: Making application


After choosing university student need to contact with university for an offer letter. It is good to apply for
September semester as all university in the UK accept students for September semester, so there will be available
options. Only few universities offer January or May semester.

Step 4: Bank deposit

- Student must show money held in his or his parents account for at least 28 consecutive days.
- UKVI do not accept all bank so take a look at the list of accepted financial institutions for UK visa
applications.
- UKVI accept both FDR and savings.
- Student must have enough money to cover both tuition fee and living cost. Current living cost is
£1334 for London and £1023 for outside London per month so yearly living cost is £12006 (9 months x
£1334) and £9207 (9 months x 1023). The money student needs to show in account outstanding
tuition fees plus living cost.

For example, if tuition is £15000 and student pay £5000 for initial deposit amount need to show in account would
be:
Within London Outside London
Tuition fees £15000 £15000
Living cost £12006 £9207
Less: Initial deposit (£5000) (£5000)
Amount need to show in the Bank £22006 £19207

Step 5: Making payment


Payment can be made through international credit or debit card or through bank. There are many banks in
Bangladesh offer student file service to send tuition fee and living cost.

Step 6: Visa application


During making application student need to pay IHS fee $470 per year, but it depends on course length. Calculate
your IHS fee here.
In addition, while submitting biometric and papers to VFS student have to pay £384 as visa fee.
