– Essay on Bioethical Issues

Answer the following questions briefly and concisely. Limit your answers to only five (5)
sentences.

1. Is it ethical to terminate a pregnancy if you know that the child in the womb will end
up having abnormalities? Why and why not?

In my perspective, it is ethical to terminate pregnancy knowing that the baby has


genetic defects. Since there are various reasons to be considered, such as the feelings
of the parents, their decision, and the way they would live after they make the decision.
The reason for this is that parents have their own way on dealing the current situation.
Furthermore, there is no right or wrong decision when they choose to terminate the
pregnancy or not. Therefore, it is ethical to terminate pregnancy if the baby possesses
genetic defects.

2. As a child, would you allow euthanasia be applied to any member of your family when
a situation comes in? Why and why not?

Every life has a value, and in my perspective, I would not allow euthanasia to be
applied to any family member since life is a gift bestowed upon us. No matter what the
situations will be in the future. However, the decision will not fully be mine if the subject
really insists in doing so. Even so, I would not want any family member to be subjected
to euthanasia because we don’t have the right to play God.

3. Give your opinion on FGM.

In my point of view, FGM is cruel and unethical. This is because the culture that
derived from this result to multiple infections that could result to death.

4. Explain in your own words the right to live and the right to survive.

The words “the right to live and the right to survive” applies to all living beings
that dwells within the planet, no matter what the situation. Every human, animal, or
creature can live according to its desires and to enjoy life to the fullest.

5. If a challenging situation comes in within your loved ones, would you allow yourself to
donate one of your kidneys to a family member?

For the sake of living, I am willing to give my kidneys to a family member since we are
family and we deserve to live long as a family.
