Afternoon Math Centers: (10 minutes per center)


● Instruction (Me); Goals (aligned w/ IEPs/standards):
○ S1 and S2: Identifying flat shapes: square, circle,
triangle, and rectangle
○ S3, S4, and S5: Teen numbers: counting, writing,
and ordering
○ S6: Reading analog clocks to the hour and half
hour and representing time in the digital
format
○ S7: Reading analog clocks to the nearest 5
minutes and representing time in the digital
format
○ S8: Measuring objects in inches and cm,
comparing the lengths of objects, comparing
units
● Review (Mrs. “X.”); Goals (aligned w/ IEPs/standards):
○ S1 and S2: Numbers 1-5: counting, writing, and
ordering; extend into 1-10 for S2
○ S3, S4, and S5: Adding to 10
○ S6 and S7: Add and subtract w/in 20

○ All: geoboards, play doh to make
shapes/numbers, linking cubes, whiteboard

○ Review shape flashcards, look at “Out of
Shapes” images; identify shapes they see in the
pictures; have them build one of the images
with shape cut outs
● S3, S4, and S5:
○ Use number lines and chorally count to 20
while pointing at the numbers; build the
number line to 20 as a group (from 11 on; give
1-10 so it doesn’t take forever and lose their
attention); start roll and ID number game
● S6:
○ Review of times to hours and half hours using
clock manipulative, time to hour and half hours
matching game
● S7:
○ Review times to hours, half hours, and quarter
hours using clock manipulative; Time to hour,
half hour, and quarter hour matching game
● S8:
○ Review sides of a ruler; which unit is longer:
inch or cm; give objects to measure in cm and
in which did it take more of; which unit is bigger,
an inch or a cm?

○ Practice counting chorally while pointing to
each number on a number line; count groups
of manipulatives to practice counting objects
and answering “how many…?” (up to 5 JL, 10 BK);

have our “sharks” eat the shapes I say (record
number correct); complete shape counting
sheet, ask them which shape is which
● S3, S4, and S5:
○ Teen number flashcards; finish roll and ID
number game; assess number ID using
flashcards
● S6:
○ Review of times to hours and half hours using
clock manipulative, time to hour and half hours
reading clocks sheet
● S7:
○ Review times to hours, half hours, and quarter
hours using clock manipulative; Time to
quarter hours reading times sheet
● S8:
○ Review sides of a ruler; measure shells on paper
in inches; compare lengths w/ sheet

shapes sheet: ask them to “color a small ___” to
assess shape recognition
● S3, S4, and S5:
○ Wed: Teen number counting practice w/
counting cards; complete 1-20 tracing and
writing in order sheet (say number as they
trace/write); number splat S5
● S6:
○ Review of times to hours and half hours using
clock dry erase mat, practice with drawing hour
and half hour times on dry erase mat
● S7:
○ Review time to quarter hours and reintroduce
nearest 5 minutes, practice counting by 5s
around the clock and reading clocks to the
nearest 5 minutes w/ help of clock labeled w/
minutes around outside
● S8:
○ Review how to find the difference in lengths of
two objects; complete cm measurement sheet
and questions
● *Group S7 and S8 together; S6 by self

○ Practice counting chorally while pointing to
each number on a number line; have them
make a group of manipulatives to match the
bunny (1-5 S1; 1-10 S2)

clock review
