Film Festival
The film festival I have chosen to keep to the guidelines of is the London Short Film Festival.
I chose this festival due to its very open requirements and multiple deadline dates. To
enter this film festival I have to produce a production under 45 minutes and can be any
form of media including animations and stop motions. The creative freedom I would get
from this could help me build my ideas and add later onto. The cost to enter this Film
Festival is £18 which is low compared to other festivals i looked at. London is where I plan
to do most of my shooting so this location is very accessible to me.

Previous Winners
The Winner of this year's 2021 film festival was Easier, Dir. Ian Bruce for low-budget film.
powerwash (i love you) [Link] Wauldby-Tolley for Comedy In Film. The winner for best
international short film was SUNDOG Dir. Dorian Jespers, The winner for best UK short film
was The Name I Call Myself Dir. Rhea Dillon.

Story Outline
We follow a young girl on her last day of her life before she decides to end it. Where she
visits and writes down her memories in places that once meant so much to her now mean
so much less as she felt the value of her life decreased. Showing all forms of emotions and
ways of coping and trying to stop herself

Idea Outline
This film is based around the last day of someone's life and it follows more cinematic
landscape shots while also storytelling that feeling of being lonely and having no one to
enjoy with. I also would follow an album (Your City Gave Me Asthma by Wilbur) I think fits
this narrative and lines everything to a song from the album with moments of dialogue in
between. It would start on a train to london with the song ‘Jubilee Line’ playing this is the
whole journey on the train including the name of the song jubilee line. The next song would
follow the changing world with the coronavirus but imply that it is part of the reason for
this person's reason. I would use shots of all the covid warnings and signs around london.
‘Since I Saw Vienna’ is more of a moment in time shot where we look at the landscapes of
London and the sights of it, including lots of locations that meant alot to the person but no
longer bring the same comfort. ‘Losing face’ is an upbeat song that I would use to focus
more on the feeling of being alone and how when you're alone you can do anything, so this
would focus on more shots of the character just doing random things out of the ordinary
but also keep it in the narrative. The next song on the album is ‘Your Sister Was Right’, this
song is slow but it picks up at the end my idea for this song is looking at the skyline and all
those roofs and then as the song picks up i would have the character up on the roofs like
they are going to jump but then chose not to. ‘La Jolla’ would be them heading to the last
place on their list and the car journey down their and just learning to take into the moment
and also looking into Brighton where they are heading this leads into the song ‘I'm Sorry
Boris’ which again would start with landscapes and character shots but as the song ends
we end up on a cliff and the screen cuts to black and we hear a splash. A main item is a
book that we look at that is being written in and explains why they once loved the place.

Target Audience

I. 14-24
As the main character for my short film is going to be around 17-18 i think it's only
appropriate to set this as the target audience also lots of people around these ages
do travel to london and enjoy all these places i'm going to be filming.

II. All demographics

I'm choosing to set my target audience as all demographics due to the feelings and
emotions i'm going to portray in my short film shouldn’t be limited to social classes
or income anyone can feel anyway so this short film is going to be promoted to
everyone.

Legal and Ethical Issues

As i am going to me using an album to tell and expand the story i had to make
sure this album isn't copyrighted, I know due to a previous production that most
of Wilburs song aren’t copyrighted however i looked into this issue and found
some evidence, (WILBUR’S SUBREDDIT)

When filming this i will be having one actor who i will get consent from and their
understanding of what they are doing and starring in. I want to film in London
which is majority public but does have places I need to be careful off.

As i am talking about something very serious i will have to have the right mindset,
however i plan to use this to educate people on what people feel when they go
through this, so people who sometimes don't understand or struggle to see from
the right perspective can see from the point of someone that feels like that.
