• Reducing energy consumption in
transportation due to the proximity
of agricultural land and markets.

In order to secure agricultural production and prevent the transformation of rural land into a sprawling
urban landscape, the government of the province adopted the Greenbelt Act, which led to the
development and implementation of the Greenbelt Plan
