Robotics enhances students learning

The Department of Education (DepEd) proclaims that one of its goals is to provide technical and
practical assistance to Science and Technology Teachers. In line with this, DepEd Lanao del Norte Division
conducted the first ever Training Workshop on Robotics.
Participated in with Science, as well as Mathematics teachers, the Training Workshop for Educational
robotics at year 2020 aims at strengthening and support students' skills developing their knowledge through the
creation, design, assembly, and operation of robots throughout the school year.
“Robotics can impact student’s education in a good way,” remarked Education Supervisor for Science,
Belen Bastillada, Ed.D.
She added that robotics may be used to motivate and facilitate the instruction other, often foundational,
topics such as computer programming, artificial intelligence or engineering design.

Training, Ms. Marichu T. Miscala said that Science teachers and Math teachers as well, should upgrade their
skills in robotics since this is already one of the trends nowadays and so that these teacher-participants of the
training will be able to share their knowledge to students about robotics.
“[We] Teachers of Science and technology need to upgrade their skills and knowledge about robotics
since there are students who are curious about robotics,” Ms. Miscala said in an interview with The Torch.
Ms. Miscala added that schools should be able to integrate robotics in the curriculum in teaching Science
because it is provides opportunities to students to make use of the knowledge and their curiosity in the aspect of
robotics to prepare them to employ 21st Century skills to make life easy.
Ms Miscala explained that the concept of robotics is new to the department and that they are looking into
strengthening the current program on it and incorporating it in the DepEd curriculum.
Robotics enhances students learning
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) lessons are extremely important for
students as they prepare to enter the 21st-century workforce. Through robotics, students can learn more than just
