 Objectives: By the end of the lesson the pupils will be able to:
 name the four seasons and some of their characteristics;
 role play a short text about seasons ;
 work in pairs expressing preferences;
 practice with Present Continuous;
 learn the last four letters of the alphabet:z,x,y,w.
 Lesson aims :
 to pre-teach useful structures that learners are likely to need;
 to enrich Ss' vocabulary;
 to encourage free conversation and develop fluency;
 to scan and understand words from the context;
 to reinforce Ss' confidence in their ability to use the English
language.
 Teaching Techniques : conversation, explanation, exercise.
 Aids : textbooks, notebooks, blackboard and chalk, worksheets.

 Anticipated problems and possible solutions :
If Ss don't understand some oral commands or tasks, those will be
translated into Romanian.
Stages of the lesson
Activity 1
Warm up ( 5' )
Interaction : T-S, S-T, S-S
* T greets and asks who's missing. Ss answer.
*T asks about homework, checks it up and corrects it if necessary,
The previous knowledge are also revised through a worksheet with some
buildings. Ss have to name their positions one to another, orally, in pairs .
e.g. A: Where is the hospital?:
B: The hospital is in the park.

Activity 2
Lead-in ( 15' )
Interaction : T-S, S-T, S-S
Objective 1: to learn the four seasons and their characteristics.
*T writes the title of the lesson, tells Ss the aims of the lesson and asks Ss to pay
attention. She also writes the new words on the blackboard and asks Ss to
repeat them twice.
T asks Ss to look carefully at the pictures from ex 1, in the textbook.
Each picture is described by Ss with T’s help.

Activity 3
Reading comprehension ( 5' )
Interaction : T-S, S-T
Objective 2 : to role play a short text about seasonal preferences.
T asks a few questions to see if Ss understood what has been read. Ss answer.

Activity 4
Fixation (10' )
Interaction : S-S
Objective 3 : to express their favourite season in pairs and also if they dislike one
to give reasons for.
e.g. What is your favourite season?
My favourite season is summer because it's hot.
T also gives Ss some pictures. Ss have to name each illustrated season.
Objective 4 : to practice Present Continuous Tense by describing the children's
activities in each season.
Objective 5 : to learn and practice with z,x,y,w in ex 5 a,b,c, from page 81

Activity 5
Feed-back ( 5' )
Interaction : T-S, S-T, Frontal
*T revises with Ss what has been taught, praises the most active Ss, advises the
less ones, rewards Ss with marks and gives them homework to write 5 words
beginning with z,x,y,w .
