Behavioral

Based on the story that we’ve written, there are various situations that showed
the different behaviors a certain person has depending on the circumstances he/she
is in. It is influenced by the environment, decisions established and other internal and
external factors surrounding him/her. In the story, Peter expressed his love to Gen
by courting her and eventually after the years that passed by, they became a couple
and married each other. However, after several years of living together, Peter
encountered problems along his workplace and was dragged with his friends into
alcohol addiction to relieve stress, and that became a factor for him to perform
violent acts to Gen whenever he comes home drunk.

According to Fansworth (2018), B.F. Skinner theorized that all of human

behavior was shaped by our environment, that we could be made to act in certain
ways depending on the prior consequences of previous actions. Since Peter’s
environment in his job was composed of his friends urging him that drinking alcohol
to relieve stress is effective, it became a fuel towards the quarrel of the couple
resulting Peter to execute violence unto his wife. On the other hand, it was also
essentially proposed that positive consequences to prior actions would lead to an
individual carrying out more of those actions, while negative consequences would
lead to an individual completing those actions less. There’s a certain time when
Peter would make up for his mistakes by giving presents and flowers as peace
offerings which is a way to settle their disputes and they’ll be eventually be okay with
each other. Operant conditioning was used – upon which most modern behaviorism
is based – defined as the shaping of future acts based on past rewards or
punishments, and is largely the context that behavioral psychology places behavior
in.

Because of the consistent foul attitude of Peter in the story, the negative
consequence of his actions provoked Gen into loving Peter lesser day by day and
ended up leaving him alone to further have an end into Peter’s violence towards her.
Negative reinforcement was evident by the aversion of something negative through
actions. Negative reinforcement can be split further into escape, and active
avoidance. What Gen did was active avoidance as being preventive of encountering
such a stimulus once again and for the sake of their children’s welfare.
Humanistic
In the humanistic perspective, it emphasizes empathy and stresses the good
in human behavior. It emphasizes looking at the whole individual and stresses
concepts such as free will, self-efficacy, and self-actualization.  Rather than
concentrating on dysfunction, humanistic psychology strives to help people fulfill their
potential and maximize their well-being. Gen’s decision on leaving Peter led her to
have realizations to not just dwell and be a martyr all because of love. She had
reached that point in the story wherein she fully grasped the fact that everything
that’s too much has its own end too and she stood firmly in her choice of choosing
herself and her kids instead of living together with him in a miserable way.
According to Cherry (2019), humanism also suggests that people possess
personal agency and that they are motivated to use this free will to pursue things that
will help them achieve their full potential as human beings. The decision of Gen
served as fulfillment and personal growth also and that could be a help for the self-
actualization of Peter in what he had done. As we have commonly observed, people
are continually looking for new ways to grow, to become better, to learn new things,
and to experience psychological growth and self-actualization.

Neurobiological

The neurological approach attempts to relate human behavior to electrical and

chemical activities taking place in the brain and central nervous system. Much of
what has been discovered via this approach has proved extremely useful in
improving the effectiveness and efficiency of human learning. Increased knowledge
about how the eyes, ears and other sensory organs work and pass information to the
brain. With the use of the sensory organs in the story, the feelings of Peter and Gen
were nurtured and was cultivated from the moment they laid their eyes and
conversed with each other with the use of their social media account and until they
got married and created a family of their own.

Similarly, increased knowledge about how sensory information and other

types of information is actually processed in the brain is leading to a greater
understanding of such things as the nature of memory. The message that was being
processed in their brains had led them to make decisions of their own. Everything
that was executed in the story and the feelings they felt—the happiness, pain,
sadness etc. was somehow affected with the use of our brain and their sensory
organs which would further result to them making choices that will open up another
chapter of their lives.
