Integrating the 2030 Agenda into the

Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022

DR. ROSEMARIE G. EDILLON

Undersecretary for Policy and Planning
National Economic and Development Authority
Outline
• Two principles of the Agenda 2030
• AmBisyon Natin 2040, Philippines long-term development agenda
and the PDP 2017-2022
• Identify programs and projects that deliberately consider the
AmBisyon Natin 2040 and the Agenda 2030; and
What is Agenda 2030?
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), otherwise
known as the Global Goals, are
• a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the
planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and
prosperity.
• about finding the balance in the development trajectories
of the economic, social, and environmental dimensions
such that the development is sustainable and no one is
left behind.
Two principles: sustainable development and no one left behind.

Some points to ponder
• Sustainable development is not the usual course of development.
After all, it may mean moderating the present economic growth,
which necessarily uses up resources, so that the future generation
could have enough as well.
• Leaving no one behind is also not a principle to which everybody
subscribes. After all, it may mean having to content ourselves with
fewer wants so that the needs of others can be met.
• The biggest challenge is the short-term planning horizon of
government
