Technical specifications for door trim panel assembly

1 Scope
This standard is applicable to the Chery Company's door panel assembly, and the back door panel,
high-mounted stop lamp cover and full interior triangular block and etc refer to this standard.
The door panel mainly includes the following structure types:
1) The insertion garnish with fabric composite rigid framework and the body molded by injecting the PP
modified or PP/PE material;
2) The insertion garnish with leather composite rigid framework and the body molded by injecting the PP
modified or PP/PE material;
3) The insertion garnish with leather composite rigid framework, upper panel with PVC composite rigid
framework and the body molded by injecting the PP modified or PP/PE material;
4) Basic type light panel configured door panel;
5) Other structures can refer to this standard.

2 Normative references

3 Terms and Definitions

4 Technical requirements
4.1 General requirements
4.1.1 Pre-conditioning
Prior to the test, the test specimens shall be placed in the environment of (23±2)℃ temperature and (50±5)%
R.H. for 48h.
4.1.2 Material
a) The door panel shall be made of the materials specified in the drawings, and subject to the relevant
standards;
b) The fabrics shall be subject to the drawings and the relevant standards.
The materials used for the interior trim parts must conform to the existing technical specifications for the
supply with the respect to their respective technical material parameters, or must be subject to the approval
test before the manufacturing of finished products begins, respectively.
4.1.3 Appearance
a) The burr and flash which may affect the assembly, operational safety, appearance and functionality must be
removed. On their surface no defect which may affect the installation, functionality and appearance shall be
existed, such as deformation, warping, ripple and etc., and the outside surface shall have no unevenness, and
light spot, creasing, crack, smear or folding, coating separation and etc;
b) The pattern on the surface of plastic parts for the assembly shall be uniform; all flash segments shall not
exceed 0.2mm in size, without burr, sink mark and other defects. The punched edges and sheared edges shall
be smooth, without any burr;
c) All structural layers shall be mutually laminated tightly in its whole dimension. The surface shall have no
visible defects, such as the decorative material separation, decorative material misplacement or warping, light
spot, glue leakage, creasing, and substrate breakage;
d) The decorative leather shall be securely fitted with the panel, and the peripheral matching gap shall be
uniform, with smooth transition, and without swelling, warping, bubble, if necessary.
4.2 Performance requirements
4.2.1 Resistance to elevated temperature

(90±1)℃/24h, after the completion of the test, compared with the supply condition, its surface shall have no
embrittlement, apart from the permissible tolerance, no change is allowed, and there is no any change in
appearance and surface which is harmful to its property (e.g., partial delaminating of decorative material,
blistering, swelling, change in colour, visible flattening at curling edge, edge swelling, etc.), without any
change in colour.
4.2.2 Resistance to low temperature
(-40 ± 1)℃/24h, the test samples shall not change its function at cold state, and after heating to (23±2)℃ for
test, compared with its supply condition, apart from its permissible tolerance, its surface shall have no any
change, such as partial delaminating of decorative material, blistering, swelling, change in colour, visible
flattening at curling edge, edge swelling, and etc.
Resistance to heat and humidity
After the completion of the test, compared with its supply condition, apart from its permissible tolerance, its
surface shall have no any change, such as partial delaminating of decorative material, blistering, swelling,
change in colour, visible flattening at curling edge, edge swelling, and etc.
Resistance to environmental cycle
Place the assembly parts into a climate box, after testing for 30 cycles, compared with the supply condition,
the molding parts shall not have the following symptoms: warping, contour and curved surface inclination,
junction surface separation, bubble generation, chalking, leakage, shrinkage, change in colour, and etc..
Small change in tone and luster is allowed, but the dimensions shall have no obvious change.
4.2.5 Decorative parts bonding force (the adhesive property between the panel and fabrics)
The adhesive property means the tear & stripping force in 5 cm width of the test sample.
a) The foam and surface decorative material requirements shall be subject to the fabrics standard Q/SQR
S1-124;
b) The substrate and surface covering materials requirements are given in the below table.

When the foam layer is damaged during the stripping process or when the fabric layer is difficultly stripped, it
shall be acceptable.
4.2.6 Resistance to detergent
The requirement shall be such that there is no change in colour and surface structure after testing, compared
with the approved samples, small change in luster shall be permitted.
4.2.7 Color fastness to light
Gray scale ≥ Grade 4, evaluated as per GB 250.
4.2.8 Resistance to scratch (for PP materials only)

The framework of the surface coverings shall not be subject to the scratch-resistant test, and the specific grade
requirements shall be subject to the drawings and relevant technical documents.
4.2.9 Burning properties
Burning speed ≤75mm/min. For Category M2 vehicle, the flame retardance requires that the burning speed
≤70mm/min.
4.2.10 Emission requirement of door panel
The odor, formaldehyde content, condensate and organic compounds emission requirements shall be subject
to and evaluated as Class C parts defined in Q/SQR E1-6, and the high, middle and low-class categories shall
be determined according to the vehicle model.
Note: The integrated injected door panel shall not be subject to the formaldehyde content test.
4.2.11 Requirements for decorative electroplated parts
As per Q/SQR S1-47.
4.2.12 Requirements for interior painted parts
As per Q/SQR S1-16.
4.2.13 Requirements for prohibited substances
As per Q/SQR E1-5.
4.2.14 Low-temperature falling-ball
Panel: (-40± 1) ℃/24h, the height of ball falling of (40±0.5), without breakage and crack;
Interior triangular block (PP-T20 material): (-35± 2) ℃/24h, the height of ball falling of (40±0.5), without
breakage and crack.
4.3 Strength requirement of door trim panel assembly
4.3.1 Mounting strength requirement of upper trim panel and metal plate (optional)
After the test, no deformation or looseness and other troubles happen on the upper of door trim panel.
4.3.2 Strength of door map bag (mainly prevents the customer to pull the edge of the map bag and thus
resulted closing of the door)
a) Tensile deformation: Measure the deformation and permanent deformation, which the deformation is
required as follows:
Tensile force =100N, deformation≤10mm; tensile force=200N, deformation≤20mm; permanent
deformation≤1.5mm
b) Pressure deformation: Measure the deformation and permanent deformation, which the deformation is
required as follows:
Pressure =100N, deformation≤10mm; pressure=200 N, deformation≤20mm; permanent
deformation≤1.5mm
4.3.3 Strength of armrest in Z direction (optional)

a) Planar pressure: Apply 500N force, and after the test, the PVC and framework of the armrest shall have no
any damage, then move the application point forwards 20 mm and backwards 20mm, the maximum
deformation shall not exceed 1.5mm within this area.
b) Spherical pressure: Apply downwards the maximum pressure of 222N, and after the test, the PVC and
framework of the armrest shall have no any damage, and no visible looseness, no insecure fixation and other
troubles shall be available between the armrest fastener and connection parts.
4.3.4 Strength of the fastener seat
Apply the maximum destruction force of 400N; in this case, the fastener seat shall have no breakage,
separation from the door trim panel, and other failure symptoms.
4.3.5 The fastening force of the warning light or courtesy lamp cover
Apply 70N load, in this case, the lamp cover shall not fall off from the door trim panel.
4.3.6 The pull-off strength of the switch panel and door trim panel (optional)
Apply 150N pull force, in this case, the switch shall not fall off from the door trim panel.
Note: The purpose of this test is to inspect the pull-off force of the door trim panel and switch panel, and if
this function fails because of the breakage of the switch, this test can't be done, and this test result
demonstrates that the trim panel is acceptable, and if the switch falls off from the trim panel, this panel is
rejected.
4.3.7 The compressive strength of the switch panel and door trim panel (optional)
Along the application direction of the switch, apply 150 compressive force, in this case, the door trim panel
and switch or trim panel base shall have no looseness in connection, and etc.
Note: The purpose of this test is to inspect the joint-force of the switch and door trim panel other than the
switch itself, and if this test can't proceed because of its own damage of the switch, it shows that the switch is
rejected instead of rejection of the door trim panel. The rejection of the door trim panel means that the joint of
the door trim panel and switch or trim panel base is damaged (when the switch is loose and fall off from the
door trim panel but the joint structure of the door trim panel and switch or trim panel base isn't damaged, in
this case, the door trim panel is considered as acceptable).
4.3.8 Deformation of door-closing handle (handle box) (optional)
Load at the middle segment of the handle (handle box), respectively apply 100N and 200N force, respectively
measure it thrice, measure the deformation thrice, remove the load, and then measure the permanent
deformation.
Load =100N, deformation≤1.5mm; load=200N, deformation≤2.5mm; permanent deformation≤0.5mm;
4.3.9 Handle cover holding force
On the handle cover, along the opposite direction of the handle cover installation, apply 150N pull-force, in
this case, the handle cover shall not be loosened and pulled off.
4.4 Durability of the door trims panel assembly
4.4.1 The closing durability of the door trim panel (system test)
During the test, conduct the inspection once every at least 5000 cycles, after the completion of the whole test,
no separation of the door trim panel from the door metal plate, no crack in the internal structure of the door
trim panel, no peel-off at the welding position, no looseness and other bad symptoms on the front trim panel,
covering fabrics and etc., no looseness of screw, no fastening force reduction by more than 50%, otherwise
the door trim panel will be considered as rejected.

4.4.2 Durability of the door map bag (optional)
At a 90° angle related to the driving direction, apply a 100N horizontal cyclic load, apply the pull force and
compression force once, respectively, with 1000 cycles for both the front and rear doors. After the completion
of the whole test, inspect the specimens, in this case, they shall have no "visible" damage, crack or the
separation symptom from the door trim panel, and no loss in its function of use.
4.4.3 Vertical-loading durability of armrest (optional)
Vertically apply a 400N cyclic load onto the central segment of the armrest, 10,000 cycles for the front doors
and 5,000 cycles for the rear doors, inspect the armrest once every 1,000 loadings, in this case, the armrest
shall have no "visible" damage, crack or the separation symptom from the door trim panel, and no loss in its
function of use.
4.4.4 Durability of the door-closing handle
Apply a FDau2 (calculated based on a formula) horizontal cyclic load onto the central segment of the door
handle in the vertical direction with respect to the trim panel, 50,000 cycles for the front doors and 20,000
cycles for the rear doors, subject to 3 successive cyclic test, and after the completion of the test, inspect the
handle, in this case, the handle shall have no "visible" damage, crack or the separation symptom from the door
trim panel, and no loss in its function of use.

5 Test Method
5.1 Resistance to high and low temperatures
The test method shall be subject to Q/SQR S1-27.
5.2 Resistance to heat and humidity
Place the assembly specimens into a constant temperature humidity chamber, and hold them at 55℃ and 95%
R.H. for 48h.
5.3 Resistance to environmental cycle
Place the assembly specimens into a climate box, conduct the test of 30 cycles, and then determine the results
of the test.
One cycle will last for 8h, and under the following temperature and climatic conditions:

1.5h At the heating stage from -10℃ to 70℃

1h At the heat preservation stage of 70℃

15min At the cooling stage from 70℃ to 55℃

3h At the holding stage of 55℃/95% R.H.

115min At the cooling stage from 55℃ to -10℃

20min At the heat preservation stage of -10℃

5.4 Decorative parts bonding force (the adhesive property between the panel and fabrics)
5.4.1 Test apparatus
The tensile testing machine: The movement speed of the moving jaw of a tensile fixture V1= (100±5)
mm/min, the distance between the adjacent jaws L0=100mm, and the angle between the upper and lower jaws
is 90°.
5.4.2 Specimen preparation

The specimen size is (200mm×50 mm), 3 test specimens are taken in random direction within the flat area on
the door trim panel covering fabrics, and on one end of the specimen, and approx. 100mm decorative layer
and substrate shall be striped off along the length direction in overall width of the specimen.
5.4.3 Pre-conditioning
Prior to the test, Place the test specimens into a conditioning chamber with (23±2) ℃ temperature and
(50±5) %RH humidity for 24h.
5.4.4 Test procedure
Place the door trim panels into a climate test chamber to conduct the environmental cycle resistance test
according to the conditions described in 5.3, and then take out the door trim panels to cut the samples, fix the
decorative layer onto the upper fixture jaw of the tensile testing machine, and the substrate onto the jaw of
lower fixture for testing, obtain the adhesive force value by dividing the result by the width of the specimen,
calculate the arithmetic mean value of those computed force values, and take the arithmetic mean value of 3
specimens as the inspection result, expressed in "N/5cm specimen width".
5.5 Resistance to detergent
Use a suction pipe to drop a 0.1mL detergent droplet onto any surface of the trim panel,react for 10min, and
then dry it in +60℃ circulating air for 30min. After 24h, begin to assess the state of surface.
5.6 Color fastness to light
The test method shall be subject to Q/SQR T1-7, with 3 sunlight cycles for the parts located in
non-direct-sunlight area (interior triangular block of front and rear doors, high-mounted stop lamp cover, back
door trim panel); 5 sunlight cycles for the parts located in the direct-sunlight area (the door trim panel with
weather strip area).
5.7 Resistance to scratch
The test method shall be subject to SQR T1-64, with an Izod 318 bar.
5.8 Burning properties
Conduct the test and determination according to the equipment and procedures defined in GB 8410.
5.9 Emission requirement of door panel
The method of odor test shall be subject to Q/SQR T1-8.4, the method of formaldehyde content test shall be
subject to Q/SQR T1-8.1, the method of condensate test shall be subject to Q/SQR T1-8.2, and the method of
organic compounds emission test shall be subject to Q/SQR T1-8.3.
5.10 Low-temperature falling-ball
As per Q/SQR T1-6.
5.11 Test method for the strength requirement of the door trim panel assembly
5.11.1 Mounting strength test of upper trim panel and metal plate
Apply a downward 220N force on the top, as shown in Figure 1, the application area of the force shall be
greater than 300×25mm2, and hold the force for 60s and then release it.
5.11.2 Strength test of the door map bag
a) Tension test: Use a manometer with a 2mm wide lifting hook to apply 100N and 200N tensile force,
respectively, in the vertical direction with respect to the door trim panel in the central segment and at
maximum 5mm away from the upper edge of the map bag, as shown in Figure 2, and apply these forces thrice
for each force. Measure the deformation, and calculate the deformation from three measurements, and then
measure the final permanent deformation.

b) Pressure test: Use a manometer with a 10mm diameter rubber
head to apply 100N and 200N pressure, respectively, in the
vertical direction with respect to the door trim panel in the 300X25
central segment and at maximum 5mm away from the upper
edge of the map bag, as shown in Figure 3, and apply these
forces thrice for each force. Measure the deformation, and
calculate the deformation from three measurements, and then
measure the final permanent deformation.

5.11.3 Strength test of armrest in Z direction
The test shall be done at normal temperature, and the door trim plate assembly shall be attached to the support
or installed onto the vehicle body.
a) Planar pressure: In the relative flat area on an armrest with the weakest strength and the area of more than
50mm×100mm, as shown in Figure 4, apply a downward 500N force, reach the maximum pressure within no
less than 1s, and keep the force applied for 5-6s.
b) Spherical pressure: In the area on an armrest with the weakest strength, use a round ball of 38mm diameter
in head to press the surface of the armrest, as shown in Figure 5, apply a downward 222N force, reach the
maximum pressure within no less than 1s, and keep the force applied for 5-6s.

5.11.4 Strength test of the fastener seat
As shown in Figure 6, apply a 400N force onto the fastener seat, in this case, no breakage, deformation,
separation from the door trim panel and other failure symptoms shall be found on the fastener seat.
5.11.5 The fastening force test of the warning light or courtesy lamp cover
Under no light in the daytime, the red warning light can be tested but the courtesy lamp must be tested in a
dark environment. As
shown in Figure 7, the required load applying point is located at the center of the lamp cover. If the trim panel
isn't secured, apply the corresponding pushing force forwards from the back of the panel. The applied force is
70N.

5.11.6 The pull-off strength test of the switch panel and door trim panel
As shown in Figure 8, apply 150N force, in this case, the switch and switch guard board can't be separated,
and this test can be done once for following four conditions, respectively:
+23±5℃ (at room temperature);
+80 ± 3℃;
+38℃ and 95% R.H.;
-30+ 3℃
5.11.7 The compressive strength test of the switch panel and door trim panel
Require the telescopic measuring apparatus and 20mm diameter rubber bar. The pushing force >150N and
applied along the use direction of the switch, as shown in Figure 9. No failure shall be found in the matching
of the switch, switch panel and trim panel, and no any crack and other damage symptoms shall be also found
on the trim panel. This test shall be done once under the following four conditions, respectively:
+23±5℃ (at room temperature);
+80±3℃;
+38℃ and 95% R.H.;
-30+ 3℃

5.11.8 Deformation test of door-closing handle (handle box)


This test shall be done at the door opening or closing position, but ensure that the door assembly can't move
when the force is applied onto handle (handle box). As shown in Figure 10, the load is added onto the
intermediate segment of the handle, and the gauge has a 2cm wide hook which can be used to hook at the
measuring point. The tensile measuring direction shall be perpendicular to the plane where the door trim panel
locates. As shown in Figure 11, the load is added onto the intermediate segment of the handle.
Two states: Respectively apply 100N and 200N force, and respectively apply both force values thrice, and
measure the deformation thrice, as shown in Figure 12. Remove the load, and measure the permanent
deformation.

5.11.9 Handle cover holding force test


Determine the force application position and its quantity
according to the categories of the handle box, with the
following principles:
1) These measuring points shall be located at the
centerline of handle cover in width, and no more than 10
mm away from the endpoint of the handle. As shown in
Figure 13.

2) One measuring point is located at the center of the
handle, and the distance between each measuring point shall be no more than 100 mm. The holding force for
measurement at three positions shall be greater than 150N.
5.12 Durability of the door trims panel assembly
5.12.1 The closing durability test of the door trim panel (system test)

At the point of intersection where the center go forwards 120mm and downwards 210mm. The door-closing
speed shall be 1.5m/s, the path of measurement shall be located at approx. 30mm away from the door
engaging position, and the full length shall be 200mm. The cycle period shall be divided into the following
stages:
(+23±5)℃ 55%
(+80±3)℃ 10%
(-30±3)℃ 10%
At (+38±5)℃ and 95% R.H. 25%
Number of cycles: 100,000 cycles for front doors, 60,000 cycles for rear doors; 4-6 cycles/min.
It shall be executed and evaluated according to Q/SQR T6-23.
Durability test of the door map bag
The door trim panel must be attached onto the support or vehicle, as shown in Figures 2 and 3, and a lifting
hook of maximum 5cm width shall be used at the loading position. A tool driven by a hydraulic cylinder or air
compressor cylinder to create the cyclic load shall be used. A horizontal cyclic load of 100N shall be added to
the center of the upper edge of the map bag along an angle of 90° with respect to the driving direction, and the
application of one cyclic load includes three steps: load for 1s, hold for 1s and release for 1s. It shall be
divided into the following stages:
(+23±5)℃, 700 times
(+80±3)℃, 100 times
+38℃, 95%RH, 100 times
(-30±3)℃, 100 times
5.12.3 Vertical-loading durability test of armrest
The door trim panel must be attached onto the support or vehicle, as shown in Figures 4, a tool driven by a
hydraulic cylinder or air compressor cylinder to create the cyclic load shall be used, a cyclic load of F40N
shall be vertically added at the central position of armrest, which the loading area is 50mm×100mm or the
maximum area is no more than 75% of the area of armrest, and the application of one cyclic load includes
three steps: load for 1s, hold for 1s and release for 1s. It shall be divided into the following stages:
Front door: (+23±5)℃, 7000 times
(+80±3)℃, 1000 times
+38℃, 95%RH, 1000 times
(-30±3)℃, 1000 times
Rear door: The cycle period at each stage corresponding to the above front door shall be decreased by 50%.
5.12.4 Durability test of the door-closing handle
The door trim panel must be attached onto the support or vehicle, as shown in Figures 4, a tool driven by a
hydraulic cylinder or air compressor cylinder to create the cyclic load shall be used, a 9cm wide belt shall be
used at the loading position, and a horizontal cyclic load of FDau2 shall be added at the central position of the
door handle in the vertical direction with respect to the door trim panel, as shown in Figure 14. The
application of one cyclic load includes three steps: load for 1s, hold for 1s and release for 1s.

6 Inspection Rules
6.1 Factory inspection
Each batch of products shall be subject to the factory inspection before delivery, and must be inspected and
accepted by the quality inspectors according to the product drawings and technical requirements, and the
certificate of quality can be issued only after the inspection is acceptable.
6.2 Type inspection
6.1.1.1 If one of the following conditions occurs, the type test shall be done:
a) When the modification, trial production or authentication is done;
b) If the structure, material, process and etc are greatly changed, it may affect the product performance;
c) When production is resumed from a stop of half a year or longer;
d) When the cumulative production time reaches uo to 12 months;
e) When the delivery inspection result is greatly different from the previous type inspection;
f) When the type inspection is proposed by the state's quality inspection and supervision authorities.
Note: The type inspection items include the factory inspection items and raw material property test items.

a. For the factory inspection, conduct the spot check of the relevant dimensions with a gauge, and for the type inspection,
check the dimensions indicated in drawings.

The results of the test shall conform to this standard, and if any one item is unacceptable, double the
specimens for re-inspection, if still rejected, this batch of products shall be considered as rejected, and if two
or more items are unacceptable, no re-inspection is allowed. For the full inspection of appearance, if any

unacceptable item is found, repair is available, and if it conforms to this standard after rework/repair, this
product shall be considered as acceptable.
6.1.1.2 The door trim panel assembly subject to the type inspection shall be sampled from the same batch of
products which are acceptable after type inspection.

7 Marking, Packaging, Transport and Storage


7.1 Product marking
As per Q/SQR B1-8 and Q/SQR B1-9.
7.2 Product packaging, transport and storage
As per GB/T12122, SJ/T10466 and Q/SQR B1-14, etc.
7.3 Each packing case shall be accompanied by a certificate of product.
7.4 Storage
During transport, the products shall keep out of the long-time exposure to sunlight, rain and snow and heavy
falling.
The products shall be stored in a well-ventilated, dry environment, without any heavy load so as to avoid
deformation.
