General Objectives
At the end of 72 hours at Madonna and Child Hospital Surgical Ward, I will
be able to: Demonstrate appropriate evidence-based direct care to: Patient with
critical illness and injury, including life threatening trauma and multi-system organ
failure; Post-operative patients from cardiothoracic, vascular, gastrointestinal,
endocrine, orthopedic, neurosurgical, plastics and ENT procedures.

Specific Obje ctives


At the end of 8 hours at Madonna and Child Hospital Surgical Ward, I will
be able to:

a. Analyze and interpret clinical data accurately and act accordingly.


b. Demonstrate self-evaluation of patient care skills and medical and nursing
knowledge.
c. Engage in therapeutic relationships in professional care.
d. Identify the best practice patterns to facilitate care of the critically ill
patient from standard operating procedures and patient interactions.
e. Incorporate research and other evidence into clinical practice.
f. Observe and participate in the communication of information and support
to patients, relatives, and appropriate clinical staff, within the acute
surgical care setting.
