Leader: Welcome to God’s new day!

People: God has raised Jesus Christ from the dead.
Leader: Christ is present among us today.
People: Praise God for new life within and among us
this day.
*UNISON PRAYER OF INVOCATION
God of new life, we gather this morning to
welcome You as You have welcomed us. We come to
sing songs of praise for the new life we find in You.
We come to experience the resurrected Christ
through the hearing of His stories, and the joy we
find in greeting one another. Our prayer is this,
Join Us! Join us on the journey to the cross. Guide
us! Guide us as we seek to live as Christ has taught
us! Love us! We seek to share the perfect love that
You give to us. Hear us! Hear us as we pray together
the prayer that Christ has taught us...
*LORD'S PRAYER
SCRIPTURE LESSON John 20:1-18
He Is Risen! – Reading
(Psalm 33:1, 138:8, Luke 23:3-4, 23-54, 24:1-8, John
10:10, 1 Peter 1:3, Matt. 28:16-20)
READER 1: So Pilate asked Jesus, "Are you the king of the
Jews?" "Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied.
READER 2: Then Pilate announced to the chief priests and
the crowd, "I find no basis for a charge against this man."
READER 3: He is Alive! Praise be to the God and Father of
our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new
birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ
from the dead.
READER 1: But with loud shouts they insistently demanded
that He be crucified, and their shouts prevailed. So Pilate
decided to grant their demand.
READER 2: When they came to the place called the Skull,
there they crucified Him, along with the criminals—one on His
right, the other on His left.
READER 3: He is alive! The thief comes only to steal and kill
and destroy; Jesus has come that we may have life, and have it
to the fullest.
READER 1: Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not
know what they are doing."
READER 2: The soldiers also came up and mocked Him.
They offered Him wine vinegar and said, "If you are the king
of the Jews, save yourself.” There was a written notice above
Him, which read: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
READER 3: He is alive! The LORD will fulfill His purpose
for me; Your love, O LORD, endures forever- do not abandon
the works of Your hands.
READER 1: It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness
came over the whole land until the ninth hour, for the sun
stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.
Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into Your hands I
commit My spirit." When He had said this, He breathed His
last.
READER 2: Now there was a man named Joseph, a member
of the Council, a good and upright man, who had not consented
to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of
Arimathea and he was waiting for the kingdom of God. Going
to Pilate, he asked for Jesus' body. Then he took it down,
wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock,
one in which no one had yet been laid. It was Preparation Day,
and the Sabbath was about to begin.
READER 3: He is most definitely alive! The plans of the
LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all
generations.
READER 1: On the first day of the week, very early in the
morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and
went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the
tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the
Lord Jesus.
READER 2: But when they entered, they did not find the body
of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this,
suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood
beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their
faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you
look for the living among the dead? He is not here; He has
risen! Remember how He told you, while He was still with you
in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of
sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.'”
Then they remembered His words.
READER 3: If you are here and questioning, His existence
this Easter morning…He is alive! Then the eleven disciples
went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to
go. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some
doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in
heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and
make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of
the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching
them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I
am with you always, to the very end of the age."
READER 1: He is alive!
READER 2: He is alive!
READER 3: He. Is. Alive …in you.

The Food Pantry (now at 79 Whig Street) is open
to all residents of Newark Valley.
Regular pantry hours are Tuesdays & Thursdays
from 3-4 p.m. (or call 607-642-3339 regarding
emergency needs)

SEEKING VOLUNTEERS:  
Tioga County Rural Ministry Spring Clean Up – April 17:  Tioga
County Rural Ministry is sponsoring an outreach to those 65 and
older who need help cleaning up their yards from winter debris.  We
are looking for volunteers (Social Distancing Rules will be followed)
to work that day.   We need to be able to keep the ratio of volunteers
to Seniors so it can be an effective outreach.  There will be three
teams set up: one for each town in Northern Tioga (Richford,
Berkshire, and Newark Valley). We need to know who will be
coming so please contact Marlene Larson (607-642-5386- who will
forward the information to the Newark Valley coordinator ).  There
will also be sign-up sheets for volunteering at the back of the
church as well.    
This is a wonderful opportunity to reach out to our community and
show our neighbors about God's love!  Come be a part of the
community!

neighbor or friend in Newark Valley that needs help have them, call
me!
