WORDS OF WELCOME & OPPORTUNITIES FOR
MINISTRY
*CALL TO WORSHIP
L: Who would believe what we have heard?
P: God’s servant grew up like a young plant.
Like a root out of dry ground He grew up before the
Lord of hosts.
L: Yet He was despised and rejected by others, a man of
suffering, acquainted with ridicule and rejection.
P: We held Him of no account, as one stricken and struck
down by God.
L: But He was wounded for our transgressions, and crushed for
our iniquities.
P: All we, like sheep, have gone astray. We have all turned
to our own way.
L: By a perversion of justice He was taken away. Who could
have imagined His future?
P: For He was cut off from the land of the living, stricken
for the transgressions of His people.
L: Out of His anguish, we shall see light.
P: The righteous One, God’s servant, shall make many
righteous.
L: Who would believe what we have heard?

CONFESSION
“It is finished.” With those words, You declared
victory. Sin, death, and evil lost their power. We are
the church: Each of us recipients of Your victory. In
Jesus, we have won! But often we deny Your
victory. We allow sin, evil, and death to reign as if
we do not have a Savior. When challenged in our
faith, we throw up our hands in defeat. We fail to
rely on You. Lord, we are sorry for our failures.
Cause us to trust Your words and to stand firm in
Your victory. Amen.
L: Now let us take a moment to confess our sins in
silence.
PRAY IN SILENCE
PARDON
Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on Him
while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and
the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD,
and He will have mercy on him, and to our God, for He
will freely pardon. “For My thoughts are not your
thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the
LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so
are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts
than your thoughts.

INVITATION TO CHRISTIAN DISCIPLESHIP
PRAYER
Holy and ever-living God, look graciously on this
Your family for which our Savior, Jesus Christ, was
willing to be betrayed, and to suffer death upon the
cross; and grant us to grow into the fullness of new
life in Christ who now is alive and glorified with You
and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
Amen.

BENEDICTION
L: In the midst of our pain and anguish, rage, rage
against the dying of the light. Hold fast to that
flickering flame of hope that struggles for life in the
heart of the darkness.
