GAIT & POSTURE ANALYSIS

BRIEF HISTORY
.

Pt is a 19 y/o female currently in school full-time. She complains of no current discomfort or pain throughout
her extremities but reports having headaches “every once in awhile”. The patient mentions twisting her right
ankle while on a trampoline 1 ½ years ago resulting in a sprain. No recurring symptoms of pain as a result. She
denies any other medical conditions.
POSTURE DEVIATIONS

From my observation, the patient is afflicted with an upper-crossed syndrome. I observed a forward
head and rounded forward shoulder posture while standing and during gait.

Short/Tight: Stretch

1. Deep cervical extensors


2. Upper trapezius
3. Suboccipitals
4. Pectorals

Lengthened/Weak: Strengthen

1. Deep cervical flexors


2. Lower trapezius
3. Rhomboids
MMT CERVICAL FLEXORS
INTERVENTION: ONE
Position: Supine

Stabilization: Ant. aspect-sternum

Palpate: SCM/Scalenes

(pt performs cervical flex)

Resistance: Direction of extension


INTERVENTION: Soft Tissue Massage
TWO
Short/Tight Muscles:

❖ Upper trapezius
❖ Suboccipitals

10 minutes
INTERVENTION:
THREE
CHIN TUCKS

Goal:

❖ To strengthen the deep cervical flexors


and lower cervical extensors.
❖ Stretches suboccipitals and scalenes.

2 sets of 10 reps

3-5 sec hold
