Product Brief Application Notes

Benefits
• See performance issues before deployment
• Troubleshoot in a measured, repeatable fashion
• Create real-world network profiles to represent different locations or usage patterns
Features
• Run 100% line rate traffic from 10Mbps to 10Gbps
• Can be automated or operated interactively, locally or remotely
• Are accurate down to one-bit time increments

Configurable Impairments
Delay, packet drop, reordering, duplication, fragmentation, modification, corruption, jitter and signal loss
conditions.

Targeted Frame Loss

Frames can be selected for impairment based on a variety of Ethernet (Layer 2) or IP (Layer 3)
characteristics (VLAN tag, source or destination address) or any other data in an Ethernet Frame. Specific
bytes within a frame header or payload can be targeted for modification or corruption.

Simple Configuration
Ethernet Network Simulators can be configured and controlled locally using the front panel, or remotely via
an Ethernet connection. The included software package allows remote control using either a Graphical User
Interface or through a TCL API, which allows for easy automation of common tasks.

Combination Network Emulators

Up to 7 software loads for different protocols (SONET, SDH, OTN, Ethernet, Fibre Channel, CPRI) can be
combined on the same system. A combo system can easily switch between different features, data rates
and protocols, simplifying testing and leveraging your investment.
