First Sunday of Advent

29.11.2020

God is good…
With this Sunday we start the season of Advent, and a new liturgical year.
Yesterday at one broadcast for the teenagers, the presenter asked the teenagers, what
is Advent… they have said many answers… a time to prepare for Christmas, a time in
which I want to pray more with my family, to forgive more, to be a better person. But
for you, what is Advent?
Advent is that four-week period that precedes Christmas. During this period we
must prepare our hearts for the encounter with God. This is the most important
thing, because if I will take care of my soul I will be careful with my desires to be
good.
Advent is that period to wait, to wait that the most important thing to happen, is like
the prophet Isaiah, in the first reading, expresses the desire that every man has for
God: " Oh, that you would rend the heavens and come down, " (Is 63,19). Every man,
even if he is not fully aware of it, feels this desire. Man was created for God and
will find no peace unless he rests in Him.
This desire would have remained forever unsatisfied if God himself had not taken
the initiative and descended on this earth. Humanity without God wanders in the
darkness, therefore the prophet turns to the Lord in this way: « Why do you let us
wander, O LORD, from your ways, and harden our hearts so that we fear you not?
Return for the sake of your servants "(Is 63,17). My dear friends, this should become
our prayer in this Advent and in all our Advent life, because our life is like an Advent
until we will meet whit our Creator, until our desire will come to an end.
My dear friends, beloved children of God, Advent is also a time to enter deeply
in my soul, to look better there and to see if I am prepared to meet with Him. The
responsorial psalm invites us to have trust in God and to come to Him, to confess our
sins knowing that He is merciful. Lord, make us turn to you; let us see your face and
we shall be saved. How looks his face if not like a merciful face…
We start to prepare ourselves for the feast of the Birth of Jesus, the incarnation of
God, but our mind must go further to the end of our Advent. Lord, became man for
our salvation, and will return at the end of time to judge the living and the dead.
When it will be this day, only Father knows, but the end of time for each of us, can
come in each moment.
In the Gospel, Jesus, is inviting us to be vigilant: "Watch therefore: you do not
know when the master of the house will return" (Mk 13,35). He invites us to be
attentive, to remain awake: " May he not come suddenly and find you sleeping. " (Mk
13,36). Let us learn from the 5 wise virgin, who protected their candles to not get of.
Let us protect our souls, for which Jesus has died. I want to make a nice image of st
Francisc…Go und repair my church God said to him… Our soul are the Church in
which God wants to come and live, let this Advent to repair this church and restore the
beauty of our souls.
Yesterday one girl said during the broadcast this period of Advent she wants to
pray more with her family, and is a very good idea, because the prayer unites us
with God, we are closer to him, and we hold the candle on for the meeting with him.
Is a good exercise for this period of Advent. So beloved people of God, let us
concentrate this Advent on our souls, to remain related with God through confection
and prayers, and to celebrate whit joy the feast of Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, The
God made man for our salvation.
