Teaching ESP to Students in Computer Science L1/P5/S2/2018

Exercise 1:
What is the difference between computer science and computer engineering. What is software
engineering?
Exercise 2:
Nowadays the Internet is more and more developed and used all over the world. In addition
to its variety of services, it’s a tool for research, education and entertainment for teenagers.
But do they know how to use the web enjoying a safer, more educational and funnier Internet
and dealing at the same time with the numerous dangers it involves?
Apart from the quickness and lightness of transmitting information, Internet is one of the
cheapest means of communication. Students can make various researches related to their
program or simply improve their general knowledge. It is possible for them to send and
receive e-mail and pictures, to do shopping or to order books, to make a live conversation face
to face with a distant friend or person using SKYPE. Downloading games or just surfing the
celebrity websites are some of the uses teenagers have discovered.
Nevertheless dangers are permanent on the Internet. Pornography is perhaps the biggest
drawback of the Internet. Without proper supervision, children can log on to pornographic
websites. Even adults can fall prey to identity theft and stolen passwords if they aren't careful
about the things they are downloading onto their computer. Internet users are often worried by
virus attacks that can destroy their computers and important files. As for lazy students they
prefer looking for answers in the net when they have homework and spending their free time
in more interesting distraction. With the Internet, teenagers are more interested in surfing than
in reading a book. That’s why many teachers think that it has killed reading.
Such illegal activities are frustrating for all Internet users and millions of people each day
benefit from using the Internet for work and for pleasure. We should make an effort to stop
these activities so that using the Internet becomes much safer. Most teenagers are alone when
they surf on the Internet; their parents never sit next to them when they are online. They never
use filters to block unwanted sites or check visited site. Thus, parents and teachers must
educate teenagers and establish some rules to be followed. In fact we must make them aware
of the dangers of the Internet in order to fight against those who use it for negative purposes.
