Clean Air Act (CAA) 1963,1965,1970,1977,1990 This federal law regulates


air emissions from
stationary and mobile
sources and provides
authorization for the EPA to
establish National Ambient
Air Quality Standards
(NAAQS) in order to
regulate emissions caused
by hazardous air pollutants
and protect public health
and welfare. This also
created primary and
secondary air quality
standards.

Clean Water Act (CWA) 1948, 1972 Produced the basic


structures of regulating
discharges of pollutants into
water sources and regulates
the quality of surface
waters.

Convention on International 1963 (draft adopted), 1972 An international agreement
