The Collaboration
You have been joined, in your mini groups, to collaborate
together in designing a delivery vehicle for the community
workshop building. This will give you the opportunity to work
collaboratively with students from a different course towards the
same goal, and will give you an interdisciplinary perspective on
the considerations of transport design.

This will be a one-week project that will challenge and test your
abilities in a safe and hopefully enjoyable environment. You will
have a full week to negotiate and produce the work
collaboratively. You should organise to meet online regularly
through the week to complete the project.
The Design Brief

How do you imagine the community workshop ideas will be

impacted by deliveries and the vehicle’s spatial requirements?
KEY Considerations

1. What does the vehicle deliver, and to where?

2. How is it powered? – oil, animal, human, wind or other?
3. How is it maintained, and by whom?

ROLE OF THE ARCHITECTURE STUDENTS
The Architecture students are developing plans for
a community workshop space on site at the
Coventry Canal. In developing the project, the
Architecture students have considered the site, the
building’s form, ‘atmosphere’ and the materiality of
the building.
Your task in the collaboration is:
- Agree one community workshop to focus on
for the delivery vehicle
- Research, and draw the spatial
requirements and vehicle access around the
site perimeter
- Identify where the vehicle is parked and if
it needs to be under cover
- Collaborate in the design of the vehicle
- Place your graphic designer’s proposals in
the project

STUDENTS
ATD
ATD students must take into account the specific function of
the community workshop, its accessibility needs and then
design a delivery vehicle +system to support the
community workshop.
1. You must collaborate with the architecture students
within your group and come out with a design concept,
which should be sketched out and accompanied by a
simple illustrated storyboard.
2. Other than the overall design concept, you must keep
in mind the user or users, the overall layout of the
vehicle and Basic or standard Anthropometric
ergonomic considerations.
3. You must also demonstrate in your group showcase how
your vehicle and community workshop space works
together harmoniously.
 We are running the following collaborative sessions to facilitate your discussions:

Intro to Collaboration: Friday 5th March 10:00 – 13:00 on TEAMS

Project Presentation Friday 12th March 10:00 – 13:00 on TEAMS

You will present your finished outputs over ZOOM to all of your module staff and peers.
