Summary of product distribution: the basics

Along the article, the product distribution, the author presents his opinion on
“When you're choosing how best to transport your products, budget should be
the most important factor in your decision-making.” Beside how quickly you
want to deliver the goods.
The first thing to consider is the mode of transport you choose is reliable, so as
not to disappoint your customers, second is the classification of your
merchandise, for instance, if it is dangerous products, etc. otherwise do not take
precaution of the risks by not choosing the correct way to transport the products
since although the damage during the traffic is quite common, the responsibility
of state of this, is of the provider following with this process it is important to
acquire insurance to protect the merchandise
The next thing is to choose the mode of transport because before determining
the mode, which will apply given the above, as soon as have chosen it, you
should take into account, some characteristics such as the advantages and
disadvantages of using each one.
Road
Road transport is cheap, not so environmentally friendly and additionally may
have delays;
Also restrictions on transporting your goods by road.
Rail
Rail and ecological transport is not always subject to delays in contrast ground
transportation but it is very expensive, however is economically viable with
payloads of 300 tons.
air
Airfreight is currently faster transport, on the other hand it is expensive and not
very ecological.
sea

Transportation by sea, conversely to air, is cheap, especially if shipping large


volumes, although this advantage is slow and inflexible, there are still few ports
and many arrangements must be made to move products inland.
Conclusions

The modes of transport play an important role in the distribution of the products,
due to the different alternatives to comply with the delivery of the products
