Need
Skilled human resource is the prerequisite for the industrial progress of any
country. Moreover the Vocational and Technical Education is an established way
of poverty alleviation. Our country lacks the facility of formal vocational training
in numerous trade which leads to higher manufacturing cost, low quality and poor
productivity.

2. Objective
Owing to rapid growth of car industry in Pakistan, the demand of auto mechanics
is increasing day by day. That is why the “Auto Mechanic” trade has already been
introduced in VTIs to cope with the ever increasing demand of skilled manpower.

3. Skill Requirements
After the completion of this course, the trainee will attain the proficiency in the
following tasks & skills.
1. Proper selection, use and safety measures of tools and equipment for the
repair and maintenance of car.
2. Engine tuning and overhauling. Troubleshooting of the following system
of engine.
a. Cooling system
b. Lubrication system
c. Fuel system (CNG, EFI and Common Rail)
d. Ignition system
e. Starting system
f. Exhaust system
3. Suspension, Steering, Wheel alignment and balancing
4. Brake System (ABS)
5. To remove Installation, Repair/ Replace and Service of the different parts
of vehicles.

4. Knowledge Requirements
After the completion of this course, the trainee would have the knowledge of:
1. Explain the Petrol / Diesel engine troubles, causes and remedy of troubles.
2. Explain the engine parts and measurements.
3. Explain the following system of vehicles.
a. Cooling system
b. Lubrication system
c. Fuel system (CNG, EFI and Common Rail)

f. Exhaust system

-Jr. Instructor -3 years Diploma of Associate
Engineer (DAE) in the relevant
technology from a recognized
institute or 2 years of diploma of
vocational training in the relevant
field with 1 year diploma of
Vocational Teacher Training from a
recognized institute with 2 years of
post-qualification experience in the
relevant field.
Lab Assistant - Matriculation with 1 year trade
certificate in the relevant field from a
recognized institute with 1 year of
post-qualification experience in
relevant field or pass –out of PVTC
with no experience is required.
