The aim of this course is to give the students a necessary knowledge


about the fundamental terms and techniques used while studying a

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to achieve:

 The ability to analyze literary and artistic texts
 The ability to implement acquired theoretical knowledge in further studies and
teaching practice

Literary science, Literary criticism and Literary theory, Literature as mimesis, Literature as an
expression, Functions of literature, The concept of aesthetic and its history, The structure of
literary work, Sound layer/rhythm, Verse and prose as the rhythmic forms, Models and
metrics of rhythm speech, the principles of English verification, The poetic image, The
symbol as a form of consciousness, Organization and transformation of the meaning in the
literary work language, The world of a literary work, Division of literature on genders,
Critical approaches to literature.

Knowledge assessment: lectures, discussions, presentations, consultations.

Method: class attendance and participation (30% nonattendance allowed), preliminary exam,
final written exam (application of acquired skills and knowledge in order to confirm achieved
outcomes).
