The link between competency mapping for a particular industry and education system

for that industry is relatively unexplored. Mapping of competencies for an industry has

its roots in the mindsets of professionals working in industry. The relationship

between competency mapping and work force attributes needs to be explored. The

linkages with educational set up also need to be assessed. There is also a need to relate

competencies with critical factors for success for a particular industry. This paper

attempts to explore these relationships in the context of hospitality industry.
