COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course emphasizes on the different strategies for gaining competitive advantage and overcoming obstacles in the
international market. It also covers managing and adapting to change, coping with uncertainty, and moving forward
through better strategic management. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
 Understand Strategic Management Process
 Identify the Industry Opportunities & Threats
 Develop Distinctive Competencies to gain higher Profitability for a firm.
 Build Competitive Advantage through Functional, Business & Corporate Level Strategies.
 Analyze Industry Environment.

with supporting documents and evidences
3. Identify the industry of the company, it’s market segment, customers and competitors of the company

2. The objective of this study is to
i. Critically analyze the mission and vision of the company, and indicate to what extent these
statements meet the criteria of a effective mission and vision statements.
ii. Using BCG Matrix & Industry Life Cycle, try to find out the position of each of its SBUs
iii. Analyze the six question that helps to understand the internal environment of the company
iv. Analyze the six question that helps to understand the external environment of the company

v. Analyze possible future movement by the company.
vi. Descrive its value chain activities and analyze to what extent it is successful in achieving
consumer surplus (for this you need to survey)
vii. Depending on the overall situation, discuss the corporate, business and functional strategies that
the company has taken and develop reccommendations for improvising those strategies for
competitive advantage.
