Natural Disaster, Mitigation And Sustainability

The author used the archival method in the gathering of the primary
and secondary sources. The maximization of efforts to combat natural
disaster should link local and provincial levels by establishing channels
for cooperation between the different local authorities. Much of the
local knowledge and experience, staff training and legislative
innovations could be shared between and developed by the different
local authorities.
The Impact of Typhoons On Economic Activity In The Philippines: Evidence From
Nightlight Intensity

The author used the archival method in the gathering of the primary and
secondary sources. First, the economic unit of analysis needs to be observed
before and after a storm event. Second, as noted above, it is important to model
the impact of the storm locally, which means explicitly modeling the impact
spatially to capture the fact that relatively small differences in distance can result
in considerable differences in damage. To this end, there has been considerable
progress in the economics literature as research has evolved from using simple
event indicators or likely endogenous ex post measured damages to employing
physical storm models to approximate the local impact (see, for example, Strobl
2012).

Natural Disaster, Mitigation And Sustainability

In the context of the current socioeconomic, cultural, technological and
organizational processes, which affect human settlement development, the
purpose is to achieve a more than one objective. Consequently, in the sense of
urban sustainability, prevention of natural disasters involves improvements and
modifications to shape, plan and manage human settlements. Inextricably
connected to the quality of the environment and the need of the citizens must be
resources, technology and organizational processes. Mitigation methods will
thereby tackle the genuine causes of vulnerability as well as discourage and
counter ecological and social issues that are needless. Comprehensive land
policies are needed for housing access to the vulnerable, adequate house building
architecture, development practices that reinforce physical standards and
enhance the community's sovereignty and commitment, and structural
improvements at various levels to increase cooperation, awareness and
effectiveness. These recommendations will certainly have a positive effect on the
vulnerability of human settlements, poverty and uncontrolled urbanization,
ensuring equal system of efforts and wealth and keeps for future generations,
while preserving the environmental sustainability necessary for the continuation
of life itself.
