NEXT GEN MOVIE REVIEW

A Canadian-American-Chinese Co-Production animated film entitled Next Gen, was

released on September 7, 2018 directed by Joe Ksander and Kevin R. Adams. The main cast

were John Krasinski as Project 77(Bestfriend of Mai and a secret project of Dr.Tanner Rice),

Charlyne Yi as Mai Su, Jason Sudeikis as Justin Pin/Ares(The evil friend of Dr. Tanner Rice),

Michael Peña as Momo (Mai’s dog), Constance Wu as Molly (Mai’s mother), and David Cross

as Dr. Tanner Rice (Creator of Q-bot). A great recommendation to those people who want an eye

opener regarding the rapid development of technology.

Personally saying, this film is indeed a great and surprising. Knowing that we are now in

a constantly-changing country with progressive technological approach, it is indeed a film with

good advocacy. This is not just a film to be exact, just like what I have mentioned, it is an eye

opener to everybody involved with technological changes. The main cast as well as the

animation were truly deceiving and fantastic. Portraying the god and bad side of Robots if ever

Artificial Intelligence will likely to replace human’s tasks and works.

All in all, it’s a 100/10 rate for me. I am glad to recommend this one to everyone. Focus

on the message it is relaying not just the animation itself. Everyone will surely be amazed how

technology changes people and how an individual be superior among any Artificial Intelligence.

After all, no Artificial Intelligence will be made without the presence of its creator which are

man.

NEXT GEN MOVIE REFECTION

As technology rapidly develop and so as Artificial Intelligence, we thought of having a

better and easy life. A beautifully realist quotation from John Hagel caught my attention and it
says, “If we do it right, we might be able to evolve a form of work that taps into our uniquely

human capabilities and restores our humanity. The ultimate paradox is that this technology may

become a powerful catalyst that we need to reclaim our humanity.” This is indeed a bullseye and

solely related to the movie entitled Next Gen.

Next Gen is a movie about how Artificial Intelligence had become superior that humans.

The positive and negative effects of having such was properly portrayed in the film. Mai, a

teenager girl, abandoned by her father hated everything because of the involvement of her

mother with Artificial Intelligence “Q-Bots” made by Dr. Tanner Rice. Robots are everywhere

and are replacing humans works and tasks just like Robot Police in the film. Mai hated it too

much that she wanted it phased out with the help of Project 77, the secret project of Dr. Tanner

Rice. Project 77 is a weapon that would help humanity be in place once again. Q-bots were Ares

or Justin Pin’s way of making a new world for everyone. All the Q-Bots were technically bombs

and all people living in that city has it for free. Q-Bots were deceiving; they take care of all the

household chores and do everything you ask them to do except following robot three rules.

All that’s in the movie were sophisticated. Telling all how evil ruler will make everything

change and might lead to destruction of humanity. Looking on the brighter side, Project 77 and

Mai’s partnership indeed was full of amazing and breathtaking talks about the importance of

trust and friendship. The film is not only evolving about robots but so as social aspects affecting

teenagers emotionally just like bullying. Other issues here are one of the most painful things we

all have to feel and encounter is to lose someone that we really care for. There's no handy manual

that describes, particularly when you are younger than Mai, what we should do and how to get

through the situation she was in.

It is easy to get angry because we are totally powerless to all blazing emotions we are

dealing with. But when Project 77 came, he became the fallen angel everyone wished to have. In

the end, the viewer learns from her and feels or doesn't find it easier to cope with these tough

times and social support is a need to be able to free some emotion and be away from hurting

oneself.

The main lesson here is that all of us can be carried away with all the emotions we are

living within. People might be good in front of you but they were more likely to be destructive,

just like Justin Pin. Pain in life makes every person stronger. We just have to do the right thing

and not be greedy with powers, thinking that one imperfect human can rule the whole world with

its bad intentions. Artificial Intelligence are good for everyone but only if it is on the hand of a

man with pure intentions.
