USERS AND GROUPS SKILLS PRACTICE SOLUTIONS 

In this skills practice, you will manually create new Appian users and groups for a Vehicle
Fleet Management (VFM) application. Additionally, you will apply application security.
Follow all instructions carefully.

1. Begin by creating three new basic users. All user details, (username, name,
e-mail, etc…) are up to you.
2. Create five new custom groups for the Vehicle Fleet Management (VFM)
application: ​All Users​, ​Admin​, ​Registrar​, ​Maintenance ​and ​Supervisors​.
Follow the guidelines below:
a. Use the application abbreviation as the prefix for each group name
b. Security settings on groups should be set to Public and Low
c. Set the All Users group as the parent group for all other groups
d. Add one of the basic users you created as a member of the Registrar
group
e. Add another basic user as a member of the Supervisors group
f. Add your last basic user as a member of the Administrators group
g. Add yourself as a member of the Administrators group
h. Add the Administrators group as Administrators for the All Users group
i. Add the All Users group as a member of the System Group called Tempo
Message Audience Groups
3. Once the five groups are created, add security for the VFM application. Give
VFM All Users “Viewer” rights and VFM Admin “Administrator” access.

CREATING USERS:
You create users in Appian in the Admin Console (/admin). Select the Users link, then select
Create. When you create a new user, you have a choice to make them a basic user or system
admin.
CREATING GROUPS:
You create groups in Appian inside of your application in /design.
ADDING GROUP SECURITY: 
To set security on your group object, select the checkbox next to the group and select the
“Security” button. Here you will see options to configure security.

ADDING APPLICATION SECURITY: 


To set security on your application, go to the utility/gear object by your profile and select
“Application Security”.
