CARE International in Zimbabwe is recruiting for the START4Girls Project, an Education Project
implementing in Mutare and Buhera Districts in Manicaland Province, aiming to strengthen the agency
and capacities of adolescent girls and young women, and the broader education ecosystem that
supports them so as to promote sustained engagement in secondary education and/or training and
their successful transition to adulthood.

The organization seeks to recruit outstanding candidates who are known for their excellence,

quality of education for vulnerable women and girls in remote locations of the targeted province.

Position : Project Field Assistant - Education

Duty station : Mutare and Buhera

Job Summary
To assist in the implementation of the “Supporting Transition Attendance Retention and Training of
girls and young women project” through facilitating for capacity building and support to Schools and
community resulting in independent and sustainable implementation of the project initiatives in line
with agreed Donor, MoPSE and project stakeholder requirements.

Key duties and Responsibilities

• Assists in the development of a framework for DRR and implementation of school resilience
projects
• Contributes to the development of overall project implementation plans which falls under
his or her role
• Implements integrated project activities (trainings, engagement, coaching and mentoring) as
per the agreed workplan and guidance from technical specialists
• Provides school level ASRHR advocacy technical support for activities of adolescents' groups.
• Provides support to school level 21st century pedagogy and integrates to school resilience projects into
regular class lessons.
• Support cluster level roll out of viable VSL and IGAs, DRR&M planning and resilience building
in schools and targeted communities
• Support M&E with process monitoring of activities and documentation of project activities.
• Conducts regular monitoring visits to schools in areas of operation
• Provides input during the preparation of project progress reports i.e., Monthly and Quarterly,
reports or any other special reports
• Establishes and maintains relevant cluster and district level relationship with key
stakeholders (e.g., MoPSE, Gender) in furtherance of his/her work in close collaboration with
the field supervisor.
• Reports cases of suspected SHEA to the field supervisor, Education specialist and or relevant
stakeholders and ensures safeguarding information is disseminated to the relevant
stakeholders.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

• 2 years’ experience in education, gender, community and youth economic development


programming.
• Demonstrate ability to establish school and community structures and provide coaching and
mentoring support towards promoting girl’s education
• experience working with Government ministries (MoPSE and MoHTE), local authorities, Civic
society organisations, adolescents and communities.
• Experience with Participatory learning and teaching pedagogy for girl’s education.
• Good understanding of the education quality, equity and inclusion needs of rural communities
and of appropriate ways of tackling them.
• Demonstrate understanding of the relationship between Education and girls Economic
Empowerment.
• Ability to ride a motor bike to support project activities.

Duty station : Mutare and Buhera

Job Summary
To effectively implement gender interventions for the project to improve the quality of education
for girls and women in Buhera and Mutare districts

Key duties and Responsibilities


• Identifies and develops integrated actions plans that are responsive and need based and
initiate planning for project (Operational Planning, Budgeting)
• Attends and participates actively in meetings/networks/fora at community/ward on gender
equality, education and girls and economic empowerment to increase visibility and presence
of CARE’s work on gender,lifeskills development,child protection, social inclusion,
adolescent and youth in education and economic empowerment
• Implements integrated project activities (trainings, engagement, coaching and mentoring as
per the agreed workplan and guidance from project technical specialists
• Establishes gaps and opportunities for mapping and identification of entry points to guide
establishment of community and school engagements, structures, safety nets, male and
female spaces and platforms.
• Supports the establishment of male champions and SAA dialogues across wards, clusters and
school communities
• Mobilizes community and school structures to establish girls’ networks (peer leaders, youth,
female role models and Out of School girls) to champion collaborations and mentorship
initiatives
• Supports trainings and awareness campaigns (in person and virtual) on child protection, SAA,
ASRH and planning meetings for girls’ camps, commemorations and leadership platforms to
include support provision on gender and social inclusion across outputs
• Documents stories of significant change on a regular basis
• Supports the Technical Specialists to identify capacity gaps for mentorship for project staff,
stakeholder and community structures to strengthen capacities and targeted backstopping
needs as required
• Compiles and submits monthly project summary reports to Field Supervisor
• Conduct support visits to schools and communities as per project agreed expectations or as
per need
• Ensures application of IASC core principles and safeguarding standards are met and
maintained accordingly during the project planning and implementation phase.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

• 2-3 years’ experience in community mobilization in support of girls’ education


• Basic Monitoring and evaluation skills desirable
• Demonstrate ability to establish and strengthen school and community structures and provide
coaching and mentoring support towards promoting girl’s education
• Demonstrates understanding the links between gender, girls’ education and economic
empowerment
• Ability to ride a motor bike.
Position : Project Field Assistant - VSLA

Duty station : Mutare and Buhera

Position Code : S4G- PFA21

Job Summary
To facilitate the rolling out of VSL, IGAs, School resilience projects and Voc tech skills development
in schools and targeted communities in Buhera and Mutare districts responding to the differentiated
needs of adolescent girls and young women to ensure continued education for adolescent girls
including those living with disabilities

Key duties and Responsibilities


• Meets and discusses district level project activities with the Field Supervisor for planning
weekly project activities at community level
• Conducts community stakeholder orientation and sensitization
• Identifies and capacitates existing groups on Income generating activities
• Trains new groups on VS&L and IGAs
• Conducts community capacity building, such as training of committees, Cluster facilitators
and individuals
• Facilitates implementation of adapted versions of the project models such as school
resilience frameworks, IGAs and VSLAs, VocTech training packages, following CARE and MoPSE
and relevant stakeholders’ guidelines
• Trains VS&L individuals with small enterprises on business development services
• Facilitates linkages of VSL groups to micro-finance institutions and skills development
institutions
• Sensitizes VS&L groups towards behavior change on decision making, power relations and
other gender related issues affecting girl’s education
• Conducts regular monitoring of IGAs and VS&L groups and conducts verification and follow-
up
• Coordinates community participation and stakeholder coordination at community and district
levels
• Organizes and facilitates community level meetings
• Participates in data collection, writing monthly, quarterly and annual reports (Narrative
reports, Success Stories) and share with supervisor and WEE specialist.
• Ensures that IASC core principles and Safeguarding standards are met and maintained
accordingly during project planning and implementation.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

• 2 years’ experience in community development/adult training or related providing technical


support to savings clubs in communities/ schools/ Adult training VSLAs, financial literacy and
IGAs and skills development
• Demonstrate understanding of the relationship between Education and girls Economic
Empowerment.
• experience working with Government ministries, local authorities, Civic society
organisations, adolescents and communities.
• Ability to ride a motor bike to support project activities.
