AUTHORIZATION OF TEST
Mr. Sean Ritchie, representing the client CharCoat Passive Fire Protection authorized the
test under Proposal Number SPR422.
Report of Testing “CharCoat CC” for compliance with the applicable requirements of the
following criteria: Radiant temperature effect of coated electrical cable and PVC Pipe.
REPORT NUMBER: 20180711-CCRAD | ISSUE DATE: June 11, 2018
CharCoat Passive Fire Protection
INTRODUCTION
It has been requested by the client, CharCoat Passive Fire Protection to test and observe the damage to 3
different power cables and 2 different sized of PVC pipe coated with “CharCoat CC” Cable Coating when
exposed to a radiant heat source of 8000 – 9000 C at a distance horizontally of 1 meter for 60 minutes.
Further, to ascertain if the electrical integrity of the cables and damage to the PVC pipe has been affected
by the radiant panel exposure.
The specimens were received on June 6, 2018 in good condition under sample tracking number 20180711-
CCRAD, prepared, and one test evaluation was conducted at Vimasco Corporation, West Virginia, USA.
PRODUCT DESCRITION
CharCoat CC Cable Coating is a 100% UV Stable 90-minute Fire Rated Intumescent Latex coating applied
to electrical cable(s) to Fire Rate and/or stop spread of flame along electrical cable systems in hydrocarbon
and non-hydrocarbon environments.
All samples were coated to a dry film thickness of 1.6 mm of “CharCoat CC” Cable Coating with 1 week
curing time.
Coated electrical cables and PVC Pipes were attached to a test rig with Type K thermocouples attached to
each specimen and placed at a position maximum 1 meter from the radiant panel.
The Radiant panel was a 6” X 8” panel fed by bottled propane gas. All temperatures were measured at the
source and at the test sample using Type K thermocouples.
The radiant panel was ignited, and the temperature was increase to 870⁰C

TEST OBSERVATIONS
The “CharCoat CC” cable coating was unaffected by the radiant temperature increase on both the cables
and the PVC pipe. The cables’ electrical continuities were confirmed through a digital multimeter and no
failure occurred.
CONCLUSION
As the samples show after test completion, there was no damage to the Charcoat CC coating, electrical
cable or PVC pipe. Therefore, it is unlikely that the temperature rise was sufficient to alter electrical
integrity of coated cable or damage coated PVC Pipe.
