Luke 19

(1) And entering, he passed through Jericho

(2) And behold, there was a man called by the name Zacchaeus, he was a chief tax collector
and he was rich.
(3) Now, he was seeking to see Jesus, who he was, but he was not able since the crowd,
because he was small in stature.
(4) And running to the front, he went up a sycamore tree so that he might see him because
he was about to pass it.
(5) And when he came to the place, after looking at him, Jesus said to him, Zacchaeus, hurry
down, for today it is necessary for me to stay in your house.
(6) So he hurried down and received him joyfully.
(7) When they saw, everyone grumbled, saying, “He went in to stay with a sinful man.”
(8) After standing, Zacchaeus said to the Lord, Behold half of my possessions, Lord, I am
giving to the poor, and if I extorted anything from anyone, I repay fourfold.
(9) Now Jesus said to him, Today salvation came to this house, because he is also a son of
Abraham.
(10) For the son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
(11) When they heard these things, adding, he told them a parable because he was
near to Jerusalem and they thought that the Kingdom of God was immediately about to
appear.
(12) He said, a certain man of noble birth went to a far off land to receive for himself
a kingdom and to return.
(13) But he called ten of his servants giving to them ten minas and he said to them,
conduct business until I come.
(14) Now his citizens hated him and sent an envoy after him, saying, We do not desire
this one to reign over us.
