To Whom It May Concern:

I would like to provide a strong recommendation for Marianne Ference. Marianne was
my student teacher whom I supervised Fall 2020 semester at Ashland University.
Marianne was assigned to a kindergarten both general education and special education
classrooms within the Bay Village City School District.

Marianne demonstrated an outstanding ability to engage her students in her classes. She
taught both face-to-face and remotely throughout the semester. Marianne kept her
students involved and attentive by utilizing teaching materials and strategies that were
multimodal, interesting, and meaningful for young children. Marianne put her
knowledge of early childhood theories to practice by utilizing an active approach that
engaged the students in developmentally appropriate discussion, inquiry, and problem
solving.

Marianne had a deep understanding of her student’s learning abilities and development.
She displayed a clear knowledge of content standards and objectives and used this
knowledge to differentiate her instruction for students’ varying capabilities.

Beyond Marianne’s ability to deliver effective instruction to her students, she displayed a
positive attitude towards teaching and learning. Marianne collaborated well with her
mentor teacher. She communicated clearly and respectfully with students, parents, and
other professionals. Marianne demonstrated a sincere empathy and respect for her
students and diversity.

I strongly believe Marianne will be an asset to any early childhood program. I offer my
highest recommendation to Marianne Ference for a teaching position. With her
knowledge of early childhood curriculum, strong communication skills, warm
disposition, and passion for teaching, I have no doubt she will be an effective
professional educator.

Sincerely,

Sharon Swan, M. Ed.
