Jude

From Jude (a servant of Jesus the Messiah and the brother of James),
To those who are called, who are loved in God the Father and preserved in
Jesus the Messiah: May grace, peace and love be multiplied to you!
Dear loved ones, although I was fully eager to write to you about
our shared salvation, I felt it necessary to write to you in order to
encourage you to contend for the faith that once and for all was
turned over to the saints. You see, some people have snuck in—since
a long time ago, they have been designated for this condemnation.
They are irreverent—perverting our God’s grace into inappropriate
behavior and denying our only Lord and Master Jesus the Messiah.
I want to remind you (although you know all of this), that even
though the Master once saved the people from the land of Egypt,
afterward he destroyed those who were unfaithful. Also, as for the
angels who did not keep their office, but rather abandoned their
dwelling place—he has kept them in darkness (in invisible chains) for
judgment on that great day. They are exhibited as an example of
undergoing the punishment of eternal fire—like Sodom, Gomorrah,
and the cities around them who indulged (just like they did) in the
same kind of prohibited sexual behavior and went after unnatural
desire.
However, when these people “see visions,” they likewise defile
the body, reject the Master’s authority, and insult his glorious ones.
When Michael the archangel was arguing with the devil about the
body of Moses, he did not dare pronounce an insulting
condemnation. On the contrary, he said, “May the Master rebuke
you!” On the other hand, these people insult what they do not know,
and then they are destroyed like unreasonable animals by the
physical things that they do know. Woe to them! You see, they have
gone the way of Cain, given themselves up to the deception of
Balaam, and have been ruined by the rebellion of Korah. These are
the stains who fearlessly take part in your fellowship meals and care
only for themselves. They are waterless clouds carried off by the
wind, and trees at harvest time with no fruit, which die twice and are
uprooted. They are fierce waves of the sea, foaming with their
shameful actions, and wandering stars for whom the shadow of
darkness is kept forever.
Even Enoch (the seventh descendant from Adam) prophesied
about these things. He said, “Look! The Master came with ten
thousand of his holy ones to execute judgment against everyone and
to reprimand every living thing for all of their irreverent actions that
they have committed and for all of the rough words that the
irreverent sinners have spoken against him. These people are
complainers, unhappy with their circumstances while they go after
their own desires. Their mouths speak arrogant things, and they
show partiality to gain an advantage.
However, dear loved ones, you need to remember the words that
were said by the apostles of our Master Jesus the Messiah, because
they told you, “Later in time people will be mockers following after
their own irreverent desires.” These people are divisive and worldly,
and they do not have the Spirit. However, dear loved ones, you need
to build one another up with your holy faith, praying by the Holy
Spirit. Keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of
our Master, Jesus the Messiah, which leads to eternal life. Show
mercy on some who are doubtful, but save others by snatching them
from the fire. However, show mercy; and fearfully hate even the
clothes that are stained by the flesh.
Now, to the one who is able to keep you from stumbling and
stand you with gladness in the presence of his spotless glory—to the
only God, our Savior through Jesus the Messiah our Master—be
glory, majesty, power, and authority over everything—in the present
age, and throughout all of the ages, amen!
