PREFACE

This humble work is made primarily to help students of Fire Technology and Arson
Investigation better prepare for and pass the subject and for his/her preparation for Criminology
Board Examination. The coverage of this module made more comprehensive in order to address
the common raised questions in connection with the subject together its legal aspect.

From our earliest literature, humans have written about fire. They have written about its
ability to nourish and protect, but also harm and even kill. Fire symbolizes many things, including
passion, desire, rebirth, resurrection, eternity, destruction, hope, hell and purification. These
symbols have been used in literature, film and religious texts for millennia. In our study will be
focusing Behavior and Technology of Fire more particularly on fire technology and investigation,
rationale (reasons behind it), objectives, basic Terminologies, elements of Fire, kinds of Fire,
stages of fire development, stages of temperature, two basic modes of fire, transmission of heat,
and sources of ignition. But over time and throughout history, fire seems to have repeatedly
symbolized a few key things.

The flicking of a flame evokes thoughts of passion and desire. Fires leap, dance and
spread with reckless abandon and in this chapter it is wise for us to comprehend combustion,
principles of combustion, factors that influenced the spread of fire, spontaneous combustion. The
classification, causes, prevention, control and extinguishment of fire justify its oddness that fire
can symbolize both death and life. Agencies that has the authority to address fire incident such us
the Bureau of Fire and Prevention (BFP) and the National Training Institute (NTI) envision To
become a world-renowned Fire Safety and Disaster Preparedness Center in Asia and to protect
people against perilous fire and to prevent us from serious harm and property. Related laws and
its implementing rules and regulation which concerns the protection of lives and properties which
these agencies have the duty to implement. Fines and imprisonment are provided under this laws.
Arson investigation and its legal concept focusses on discussing on who is a fire
