Golden rule
-principle which denotes that you should treat others the way you want to be treated yourself. For
example, the golden rule suggests that if you would like people to treat you with respect, then you
should make sure to treat them with respect too.
Two-fold effect
- if doing something morally good has a morally bad side-effect, it's ethically OK to do it providing the
bad side-effect wasn't intended. This is true even if you foresaw that the bad effect would probably
happen.
Principle of totality
-principle of totality is an important principle in medical ethics because it promotes authentic human
good. This may require at times the sacrifice of a physical part for the integral good of the person

-There is always an exemption to the rule, it said that a law can be broken to achieve a greater good of
something or someone
One who acts through as agent is herself responsible
-It is a fundamental legal maxim of the law of agency. It is a maxim often stated in discussing the liability
of employer for the act of employee in terms of vicarious liability.
Defects of nature may be corrected
-means that anything that is a natural problem or defect can be corrected
The ends does not justify the means
-one cannot commit a series of knowingly fraudulent and illegal acts, even if purportedly done in the
name of a noble cause.
If one is willing to cooperate in the act, no justice is done to him
-means that if you cooperate at something be it bad or good no justice shall be done
A little more or a little less does not change the substance of an act.
-Even if you did something whether it might be big or small as an act does not change the fact that you
did something
The greatest good for the greatest number
-that the most ethical choice is the one that will produce the greatest good for the greatest number.
Means we need to bring out or maximize the goodness of something in order for it to reach a greater
means.
No one is held to the impossible
-meaning that if you say that something is possible for the the patient like having a successful heart
surgery for giving the patient hope, and if all else fails even if they tried to prolong a life they must no
be held responsible for it
The morality of cooperation
-characterised by flexibility and the ability to compromise and change rules as required, generally with
mutual consent of others involved in the rule making.
The principle relating to the origin and destruction
-it says that anything that has an origin will soon later fall under destruction
