Andy Kate, what do you want to do on our
wedding anniversary? It’s coming up pretty
soon. Do you want to celebrate like we
usually do – just the two of us at our favorite
restaurant? You know, Carey’s?
Kate Um, maybe we should do something a little
different this year – because it’s our fifth.
Um, I was thinking . . . why don’t we have
some of our family and close friends come
here? Now that we have this great new
apartment, we have so much room. I could
cook something special.
Andy Sure, I guess we could, but . . . I mean, I
know how you love to cook and everything,
but isn’t that an awful lot of work? Wouldn’t
it be easier just to invite everyone to a
restaurant?
Kate Yeah, but this place is so great, and none of
our friends have even seen it yet. Um,
maybe we could ask people to bring some
of the food.
Andy So everyone brings food to share? Like a
potluck? Honestly, that sounds kind of
strange for an anniversary party. Besides,
who could you get to cook? All of our
friends are so busy. . . .
Kate Hmm. You’ve got a point there. . . . Well,
how about this? We could have Carey’s
Restaurant do the main course and the side
dishes – their grilled fish with vegetables is
my favorite. I can make a big salad.
Andy OK. I guess that’ll work. What about
dessert? We should probably have a cake
or something. After all, it’s an anniversary
party! I could make one. . . . Or maybe we
could ask a guest to bring one.
Kate Hmm. I have an idea – we could have the
bakery next door make us a fabulous cake.
Maybe chocolate or something.
Andy Great idea! Hmm. But what’ll we do about
the apartment? This place needs a good
cleaning.
Kate Well, maybe we can get a cleaning service
to come in a couple of days before. . . .
