What is CT219H?
Opinionated:
- There are many ways to do things on the web: can't learn
them all at once!
- CS219H: What I think you need to know as a beginner
Hopefully frustration-free:
- We will go slowly through the essential concepts and speed
through the obvious stuff
Course Objectives
If you never take another web programming class again, you will
leave this course with the following skills:
- Create attractive, small scale web sites
- Have the vocabulary and background knowledge to
understand technical writing/discussions about the web (e.g.
web API documentation; random blog posts)
- HTML
- CSS
- JavaScript
- Backend basics
- Server on Apache and PHP (PDO)
- Database via MySQL
CT219H Structure
4 homeworks
- Each homework will be a standalone web page or a very
small standalone web app
- Individual assignments; no pairs or groups
1 final project
- Individual project; no groups
1 exams
- 1 final, no midterm
