Juniata Elementary School — Sisost car” Tals (ST) 848-838 Fax: (814) 60-9582 “JUNIATA ELEMENTARY March 19th, 2021 ‘To Whom it may Goncem, To say this school year has been a challenging one, would be an understatement, During my time with Miss Moyer we have taught in person with full classes, in person on a hybrid schedule with half of my class attending each day, and completely virtually. We are also dapartmentalized, 86 Miss Moyer nosdad to be flexible and able to ‘work with several team members. Miss Mayer has risen to the challange with each and every change. She was able to deliver her lessons effectively in each format, and quide the students through our ever changing days. She simultaneously set high expectations of her stucents' achievements and behaviour, all while maintaining @ sense:of compassion and understanding for the difficult and unprecedented circumstances they were in. No matier the format she was using Io deliver instruction, the students saw her as anather member of our team and went to her regularly for help and guidance with their work. (One of Miss Moyer's greatest strengihs is her organizational skills, She was always prepared and had lessons done well in advance, but was flexible and able to change and adjust plans on a moment's notice, when unforeseen circumstances arese. Within days of her arrival, she knew every student and had developed some kind of personal connection with each of them, She knew their strengths and weaknesses, and was able to develop and plan lessons, assignments and activities that every student could participete in, leam from, and be successful at Her demesnor and teaching style msde the classroom a warm and inviting envirenment where students felt comfortable. ‘Another strength of hers is communication. She regularly communicated with students and parents sbout assignments, student progress, and helped to solve any problems or questions thet they nad. She provided positive and suggestive feedback to students on a dally basis, She was excellent about communicating with other tegm members about students progress, assignments and lessons. Miss Moyer consistently demonstrated her knowiedge of the content and academic standards. She consistently used the resources, materials and technology she had available to her to deliver instruction, monitor student leaming, and set goals for each individual student's needs Due to Govid restrictions at our school, there were no opportunities to pursue outside activities with the students. However, Miss Moyer found a way to let students experience fun collaborative learning. She planned a science lesson where she took the students in small groups to our maker space in the library. The students were allowed to use any of the materials to create models of the landforms they had leamed about in class. They had so much fun and really used their minds to think creatively with Miss Mayer's help and guidance. ‘She also participated in our faculty book club, We read the book, Tesch Like a Pirate, by Dave Burgess. Miss Moyer participsted in discussions on how to increase student engagement, boost teacher creativity, and wansform your role as an educator. | found Miss Moyer to be the most promising student teacher I nave ever nad the pleasure of mentoring.
