Policy on Retention and Promotion of Students

S.Y. 2020-2021

1. Retention

A Learner with a deficiency of 3 major subjects in a year level will NOT be promoted
to the next year level unless it is advised to take a summer class or else He /She is
considered a repeater. A learner who repeats grade/year level for two consecutive
years may be asked to withdraw from CHSI the next school year.

Any grade below 75% is a failure. Learners who did not meet expectations in
not more than two learning areas must pass remedial classes for learning areas with
failing mark to be promoted to the next grade level. However if the learner still fails
remedial classes he/she must retake the subject/s failed during the summer or as a
back subject for Senior High School learner.

Remedial Class Mark (RCM) is the equivalent of the final grade for
Remedial classes. The final grade at the end of the school year and the remedial class
mark are averaged. The teacher of the remedial class issues the Certificate of
Recomputed Final Grade, which is noted by the principal. This is submitted to the
Division Office and must be attached to both Form 137 & School Form no. 5.

Final Grade + Remedial Class Mark = Recomputed Final Grade

2

A learner who fails can take summer classes immediately during the same
school year so he can be promoted to the next year level. A learner who has not taken
summer classes will not be admitted to the next year level. But summer classes
subject offerings will be requested by parents of the concern students and will be
approved by DepEd Regional Office.

A learner who received 75subject grade in the report card is advised to take
the enrichment program and enroll during summer on that same school year. It is not
compulsory but the purpose is to help and prepare students for the next level. The
parents are properly informed of the program. We get their attendance signature as
our bases to request DEP.ED for the conduct of enhancement and summer classes.
2. Promotion

A student who receives a passing grade of 75% and above in all his/her
subjects will be promoted to the next year level.
