Feedback
I enjoyed surveying my students! They thought it was fun to talk about their favorite things, and I
thought it was fun to get to know them a little better through learning about their favorite things. It was very
apparent that all kids enjoyed YouTube which is why I chose to base the lesson around watching YouTube
videos. I think this was a great way to connect with them rather than me reading to them the rules of basketball
and soccer. By using YouTube videos, they were able to see interactively how to play soccer and basketball
and really get the wheels turning in their head on which sport they liked more. Plus, I used these topic options
because they all mentioned these sports in the survey, so they already have background knowledge on it
whether it was from actually playing the sports, or watching it professionally. This was a ruse to get them to
think smarter, not harder. I also think that by choosing to compare 2 things that they all chose within the survey
was a great way to give them a sense of control in what they are writing about. It also gives the ability for them
to write more passionately about that topic, because they picked it over other options, so they clearly like that
the best and have more to talk about. This lesson was easy to create and the students are very involved! You
