USES OF EPIRB and SART
SART is an electronic device that automatically responds to the
detection of radar. SARTs interact with other boats and are used
to rescue the precise location. When a vessel or a life craft is in
distress they can use SART to ease the other ship to search for
them. All GMDSS vessel that is over 500 tons are required to
bring atleast 1 SART. Meanwhile, EPIRB (Emergency Position
Indicating Radio Beacon) can be used to alert search and rescue
personnel in case of emergency. This is done through the free to
use Cospas Sarsat multinational network by sending a coded
letter. EPIRBs communicate the satellites that are used when the
first emergency responders are in use at the beginning of a
rescue
