You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
The chart shows the division of household tasks by gender in Great Britain.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make
comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.

Study these three sentences and then choose the best expressions.
1. Women spend over twice as much time/more time doing kitchen tasks as men.
2. Men spend 30 minutes a day doing kitchen tasks whereas/ when women spend 74
minutes a day.
3. Women are more active/less active in the kitchen than/as men (74 minutes a day for
women as opposed to/regarding 30 minutes for men).
Look at the following answer to the writing task. Write a word in each space.
The chart shows the average number of minutes per day men and women in Great Britain spend
on jobs around the house.
In total, men spend just (1)______  two-and-a-half hours on household tasks whereas women
spend slightly (2)________  than four hours. Women spend more than (3)__________ as much
time doing kitchen tasks such as cooking and washing up  (4)__________men (74 minutes for

As can be seen from the chart, nearly 60% of respondents to the survey in
Liverpool p________ apartments, nearly three times as much as t_____ of
Manchester. However, the o_________ tendency could be seen in the figures
for detached houses and semi-detached houses, a__________ for around 16%
and well over 30% r__________. In contrast, there was just roughly 10% of
residents in both cities c____________ Terraced houses in 2009.
Regarding the survey result in London, well over a t_______ of the preferences
went on Semi-detached houses. This was f_________ by nearly 30% and 25%
of citizens choosing Apartments and Detached houses in return. Meanwhile, the

respondents in London and around 10% in Manchester and Liverpool.
Looking at the chart in more details, there was an e________ proportion of
citizens choosing Semi- detached houses in London and Manchester with well
over a third of survey participants, w________ was twice as high as the figure
for Liverpool with only 17%. Meanwhile, the p___________ of residents
choosing detached houses in Manchester was roundly 35%, which was about
10% and 20% h________ than in comparison with that of London and
Liverpool respectively.
