Church of Light students around the

and compiled into the system we know

Harmodyne, as the unit of astrological
harmony, and discordyne as the unit of
astrological discord, were first used in
1946 by Elbert Benjamine and W. M. A.
Drake. Elbert Benjamine and W. M. A.
Drake worked out the mathematical
method of computing the number of
astrodynes, harmodynes and
discordynes represented by each birth-
chart aspect, planet, sign and house, and
by each progressed aspect, planet, sign,
and house and combination, during the
year 1946. They explained and
illustrated the method in great detail in
The Rising Star, commencing with the
May issue, 1946.”

marked “power” indicates the strength
of the planet, sign, or house as measured
by astrodynes
• Astrodyne power = the volume of
energy expressing by any particular

• The order of the planets by power can
reveal our personal hierarchy of needs

• In ancient times, astronomers noted how
what appeared to be certain stars moved
across the sky in relation to the other
stars. Ancient Greeks called these
wandering stars "πλάνητες ἀστέρες"
(planetes asteres: wandering stars) or
simply "πλανήτοι" (planētoi:
wanderers), from which the today's
word "planet" was derived
