Everyone may find it a bit

funny when hearing the above

songs, but if you listen carefully,
you will surely feel the rustic,
sincere character of a Hanamese.
We hope to keep the intangible
cultural beauty of our
hometown. We would like to
invite all of you to experience
and learn about Hà Nam's these
heritages:
Hà Nam is praised by many
people, is a place with charming
scenery, identical mountains,
unique caves, associated with
sacred historical legends, and
some traditional kinds of music,
such as Hát Dặm and Hát Trống
Quân.
First, Hát Trống Quân
originated in Liêm Thuận
Commune, Thanh Liêm district.
Liêm Thuận used to be the place
where Trần kings concealed food
for their soldiers, and it was
guarded by the soldiers the
whole days. The songs of "Hát
Trống quân" sung by them have
been in here since that day.
Initially, there were only small
songs between a few people, then
gradually grew up into this
village to compete with the other
village to form a "Hội Trống
Quân" between villages in the
commune. Just like that, Hát
Trống quân becomes familiar,
deeply ingrained in the life of
local people there. Trống quân
festival usually takes place on
the full moon night every year,
not only for fun, for the
challenging but also for watching
the moon and stars, the weather,
predict the next work step.
Today, people have brought
Trống quân on land into the boat
and become a cultural beauty of
our hometown.
Next is Hát dặm, which
originated in the 11th century, in
Quyển Sơn village, Thi Sơn
Commune, Kim Bảng District. It
is associated with the legend of
General Lý Thường Kiệt when
he stayed in this village and he
was also the creator of the
culture "Hát dặm". Since then,
every year, he always organized
celebrating the victory on two
th nd
days: February 5 and May 2 .
The songs of Hát Dặm show
the worker's dream, and the
soldier's mind. A "Phường
Dặm" usually has one "bà
trùm" and 12 unmarried girls.
"Bà Trùm" is the person who
knows all the songs, dances. She
has to sing and dance well to
show the girls. And this type of
art has also become an
indispensable cultural feature
when it comes to Hà Nam.
We love the kinds of art in
our hometown very much. But
those cultural features are
gradually disappeared, so we
hope everyone, especially young
people, will always love and
consciously protect these unique
cultural features of Hà Nam.
