What Does STP Do

Id Bridge, is calculated with Mac address and other parameter, this let STP choose the Path

Lowest port number, mean F2/0 and F1/0, but what is F1/0 end F0/1
3. Understanding STP Standards

Speed to make decision about the path

Route Bridge and VLAN separation, + calculation per VLAN

Per vlan STP can be used as load balancer, path is chosen by VLAN and Root Bridge

Multiple STP is using PVRST and PVST+, so spanning TP is Rapid with STP/per VLAN running
4. How the Root Bridge is Elected

Switch can see own BPDU comeback to them with Bridg ID (Bridge that is elected as Root)
How know the bridge use show spanning-tree
5. How to Determine Your STP Topology
Configuration of STP
7. Identifying and Configuring STP Ports and Root Bridge Lab

Access1 is the root

Core1 is not root

Root Bridge has always port as designated port

To know the RP and DP between CORE1 and CORE2

 Cost of links from root to device

 Bridge ID, from priority and Mac Address
 Port number
 (we need to select RP (Root ports), DP ‘designated port), and BLK (blocked port))

Between CORE1 and CORE2, we have same cost, so we estimate Bridge ID, with priority and MAC
address,

DP are in core1, and BLK are in core2,

As in figure G1/0 is Root, G1/2 is DP, and G1/3 is DP

G2/0 blocked, G2/1 blocked, G2/2 (port root) PR, G3/0 (designated port) DP

Change ROOT

To make root we can set primary

After execute the previous command, we get new Bridge Root, the priority of the new root bridge
changed,
SO far, with new RB, we have Cost,  can define DP and RP as shown blow

 We check the lower Bridge ID, from priority and Mac Address, so dp is in acces1side and blk
is in the core2 side
The big problem here is that the config show that:

G2/1 is the root port not G2/0

Why this results

Because when we talk about Lower Port, this is the lower port in the Low Bridge ID switch, so the low
port between G1/3 and G1/2,
