Let me tell you the easiest yet powerful and Shastrokt way of Shiva Worship as Panchopchar

Poojan, Ritualistic worship of Shiva with Five devices and they are :-

Shudha Jal - Shudha jal or gangajal or pure water of any Good river can be used normal tap
water can be used but it shall be pure and collected in pious way. If you have Gangajal than,
than take a Lota (vessel) or any patra which you will use for offering Jal on Shiva and put a
spoon full or more of Gangajal into it than pour simple but shudha water this way all water in
the patra will become Gangajal, But have patience and listen carefully never pour gangajal in
to patra which already has Water you never mix Gangajal in to water, but You put water in
Gangajal so never take short cut or think what is the difference, yes there is great difference
the water in which gangajal is added externally is not accepted by Gods, it becomes highly
impure, but Only water shall be mixed or poured in to a patra having gangajal already. Now
If you can than mix some chandan powder or chandan you might make, some flowers, leaves
or good Itra chandan ( Never Use Kewra).

Gandha ( fragrance)— Here fragrant Chandan, Shudh bhasm, quality Chandan Powder or
Chandan with ashtagandha Shall be used Or the best way is to Take some kapoor, some
chandan powder, some shweta bhasma, some ashtagandha powder, some Abhrak, lil itra of
chandan mostly and put them all over base (rock on which chandan is made by rubbing) and
pour little water and take chandan wood piece and rub them all together for half an hour at
least fifteen minutes so that real chandan of the wood would also bind in, This paste is best
chandan which has bhasm too, actually Shiva loves bhasm most, so for that You can use
Bhasm of any Yagna, and use it for Tripunda for yourself and for Shiva. I do yagna regularly
and keep its best filtered bhasm and i mix some chandan powder, abhrak and shweta bhasm
powder. So see even some chandan is good also and if you want than you can make such
divine chandan too, by doing some exercise for Shiva. That will be great Punya.

Patram- Pushpam-Akshat— Bel patra is very dear to Shiva, it is always good to have it in
shiva worship always, even one will do, or even if you cant find than the one which was
offered earlier not earlier than three days can also be used after washing it properly or you
can borrow Belpatra from Shiva Linga Offered by previous bhakta by giving some dakshina
this way you will be purchasing it from shiva loka and after washing it softly with shudha jal
smear some chandan on to it and offer it to Shiva and than more is always better, you can
offer 11 or 1000 bel patras too, and definitely longer the sadhna greater the fruit. And Shiva
loves few other leaves too like Shami Patra offering shami to shiva is like offering Gold to
him, than Ark Patra, Vijaya Patra, Tulasi patra etc are also offered to Shiva. And for flowers
All good fragrant flowers will do except for Ketaki flower, Kevda plant. and among flowers
Shiva like lotuses and among lotuses he likes blue one the most. Along with these pushp
patras one shall offer Dhatura Phal and Vijaya also Dhatura gives immense punya. Akshat is
very dear to shiva and gives immense punya, Akshat are not all kinds of rice, But only which
are unbroken, undented and full bodied Raw Grains are used, You shall take them in a patra
and mix some chandan and Kumkum with lil water so they got colored and than offer them.

Naivaidya-Prasadam-Bhogam — After smearing Chandan and Bhasma Properly

ornamenting him with Pushpa and patras (leaves and Flowers) offer Shiva fresh pure sweets,
or fresh Fruits or dry fruits or kheer or even Gud or shakkar with devotion. Any good Prasad,
Kheer, Sweet shall be offered and taken later as prasad.

Dhoop-Deep-Neerajanam — As name suggests you can use some pure Dhoop of Guggal,
Sambrani or chandan or any pure dhoop, see i have apprehensions with Incense sticks or
Agarabatti and local dhoops as they may be made using many chemicals, diesel and bamboo
shoots and that is not permissible in Pooja. So what you can do is use Khadi Natural Dhoop,
buy some sambrani cups of charcoal, light them up and let whole cup be burnt and when fire
subsides pour pure Guggal or Sambrani or any other natural dhoop from tree, that will be true
dhoop dan. Dhoop gives wealth, it s available online too, and yeah if you can not do such
than surely you can use incense or dhoop just take care they shall be pure and good quality.
For Deep you can use normal battis, and ghee preferably of cows milk. for base or diya use
earthen diyas or you can make from wheat flour too. Light diya and do Nirajanam aka Arti.

Now this is basic knowledge of these five devices, what they are Now How to do Poojanam.
See it is Ved agya that all sanatana followers no matter if they have different ishtas must
worship Shiva In shiva lingam at home. So for worshipping Shiva in home that will be great
and very shastrokta karma. For homes Grihasthas, Narmadeshwar Linga or BannLinga is
great, For wealth worship sphatic (Crystal) Shiva Linga too, and for home Greatest will be
Parad Shiva Lingam provided it is pure and made methodically and consecrated with
mantras if possible.

Actually Parad and Narmadeshwar lingam need not consecration (pran pratishtha) or
charging necessarily though if consecration is done it will be much more vibrant but still for
grihastha sake, Narmada and Parad lingam can be established even without Pran Partishtha
they are swayam siddha. Many people have Bann Lingam and Parad Lingam both and
Sphatic too, its all great or just one is more than enough. See Banlingam is easily available
and mostly fakes are not made, and its not expensive, though on the other hand Parad Shiva
linga is rare, there are greater chances of mixing other metals, rare are pure Parad Shiva
lingas, But still if idol even has some real good para (mercury) than its good it shall be
worshipped.
